Gorgeous. A 996/7 turbo was a thought for a short bit of time but I know I can get into way too much trouble with a 350 let alone 500hp. Plus we can say we have owned a Porsche "turbo" as well.

That's fine. It's no longer there. I don't live where those photos were taken. You may be able to do a home invasion on my brother in law and try to beat the information out of him, but he is armed and lives in NC.....good luck!

Gentlemen, I'm new to the 1addicts family. I am really enjoying this forum.

Hi Bama & gregthegr8, I own the other blue water/blk MT6 is. I've always owned either Arctic silver/coral read or white/coral red. this was the first time going with a different color combo & I'm glad I did. This color grew on me within minutes from seeing it. Yes, I do not have blue stitching witch it is a big + not having it on IMHO.

Just can't get excited about 4 banger Porsches. That being said congrats to those of you with new cars...hope you enjoy them but I'm sure you'll miss the lovely exhaust note of the 135is!

It’s definitely a psychological thing. While I really liked the previous generation Cayman and Boxster, this generation is very much improved in almost every area. The exhaust doesn’t sound bad, just different. I think the purists wouldn’t have accepted anything but more horsepower in a flat six, and you have people who will never buy a car with a dual clutch despite their advantages. So that’s where I catalog all this.

I also think a lot of the somewhat negative car reviews have jaded people. However, a lot of car reviewers said how ugly the 1 series was. Obviously I do my own thing.

One reason I got the four cylinder turbo is tuning potential. A simple tune will push that 300hp to 360-375hp. Last gen base boxster would need serious modifications and still wouldn’t achieve anything near those levels of improvement.

if you think it sounds ok that's all that matters! to me it sounds exactly like a Subaru boxer engine (not a good thing!). :P definitely not psychological....

I wouldn’t say exactly, but yes you could make that case. And I don’t think that’s a bad sound. That’s why the aftermarket exists. Buy a new exhaust.

A lot of 718 forum owners are saying how the sound changes over time once the exhaust breaks in. Who knows. I wanted the dual exhaust tips, so am waiting for those to come in and those supposedly change a little of the sound too. I just don’t care for the single outlet design but that was the only thing my car didn’t have that I really wanted.

Very contradictory statement. You OPINION on a sound being good or bad is precisely PSYCHOLOGICAL as preferences are exactly psychological.

It's not psychological that it sounds worse. Anyone who has been around these cars can acknowledge that a flat 4 sounds worse than a flat 6...you can say it's an opinion all you want; but considering 99 out of 100 would acknowledge this I consider it a consensus more than an opinion.

Your use of capitalization also doesn't change this...

Again not trying to poop on anyone's parade just stating why I didn't like the 718. There are surely other attributes that are good (lesser weight, upgraded handling, etc).

Ahywho, this is the 135is thread. I realize we all may move on at some point so it is interesting to see what motivates people to replace the 135is. It’s a fairly high bar to get past. And you may not get something better due to life changes.

the 135is is irreplaceable; I will sell my 996 TT long before I sell my 135is convertible.

When I put up a pic of my 135is on the P site I got like one in the middle of the road compliment lol. BMW and Porsche people as a rule butt heads, as do many other fans of different makes. I own different makes and really don't have a favorite, I will spend as much time admiring a clean Vega-Pinto as I will Ferrari= call me nuts. Do agree that the p four banger isn't the best exhaust note but that's not the whole picture.

My 135is convertible has a bit over 10K miles; I have put about 4000 of the total on it, after buying it used at the 2 year mark from CarMax. I think it is unlikely that I will ever put more than 1500 to 2000 miles on it per year, given that it is a convertible, and that I have a lot of cars. Keeping it garaged makes it like a time capsule.

I think there is a lot of crossover. Multiple vehicle ownership seems more common among Porsche owners than it is among BMW owners, and the 2nd or 3rd vehicle is often a BMW.

Agree that Porsche owners are more likely to have other makes but still see little love loss as a rule. I rarely tell people what I drive and keep most of my cars 50 miles from home in storage.
