I bought a can and tried it out on my new Benz's wheels. The brake dust issue with that car isn't as bad as with the Bimmer, but theres still some build up after a few drives. I washed and dried the wheels and then sprayed the stuff on. The nozzle allows you to spray the aerosol type product pretty accurately onto the surfaces you want to, ie it's not hard to coat the wheel without getting it all over the tires.

I took it on a road trip this weekend for the holiday and after 150 miles or so they still look clean as a whistle. Can't wait to try it on the Bimmer.

how often do you have to apply it? after each time washing the car?
I spray it everywhere there is wheel surface..drum/barrell is an absolute must as that's where most of the dust goes

I sprayed on the AA wheel protectant after cleaning the wheels with Sonax yesterday. I'm afraid the brakes, especially the front, were probably too warm (heck it was 95º yesterday) because I had to drive some beforehand. The reason I say this is because there was some streaking on the disc (no where else though) after I used the Sonax, but it does a great job. This shot was taken this morning with about 2 miles driven yesterday. Heck, I wish I could get my wheels as clean as some of yours!

What are people using for tire care? I need to put something on my tires, but don't want a lot of shine.

I have about 13k miles on my car, it seems to get better over time (when it was still new it was the worst). Anyone else feel it's not as bad as they put more miles/time into their car?

Nice wheels, very clean! Thinking of getting a can too. Did you wash and apply the AA with the wheel mounted on or did you remove them?

I did it with the wheel mounted. I had just cleaned the wheels very well, then sprayed and left it on and let it set overnight.

Looks like you didn't clean them well enough and the excess dirt ran out

I like how your calipers have BMW written on them for the 135i.

AA Wheel Protectant is the best product out there for wheels. I read about it on this forum and tried it about a month ago. The brake dust magically disappears! I do a light spray each week and haven't had to clean the wheels in a month. It's also good in the rain and seems to repel dirt and grime. Get a can today! I got mine at Wal-mart.

I've had the AA Wheel Protectant on for about 10 days and wow, there's actually very little brake dust on the wheels. This stuff really does seem to work. Here's a pict (iPhone photo) of the same wheel I cleaned and used AA on about 10 days ago. You can see the spots I missed, but the driving included one emergency, throw-out-all-the-anchors stop, such that I even got a service icon after I restarted the car. Normally, this wheel would be covered in the evil brake dust. So I'm pleased.

Yup. I didn't want to overspray and my wheels were still very warm. I had never used the stuff before so I wasn't sure about how much was required and it was a small can. If anything I probably applied too little - well, that's evident by the photo of this wheel. The rear wheels, however, are entirely clean.

But I'm pleased considering how they would look ordinarily, even with a paint sealant on them.

I'm about 12 days on my AA wheel treatment as well. Very pleased with the results. I can see where I missed some spots, but wheels still look good, even through the tropical rains last week here in TX. I love it because clean wheels make the car look cleaner from a distance! Highly recommend everyone to try!

Will try to find this stuff in Belgium.

As to keep them top looking - I wash them every week (or used to at least on my previous car). Regular claying and waxing left them looking like new after one year of use.

Slightly off topic... but does anyone know how those tiny black pitted spotts get into the alloys and what causes them? No matter how abrasive I scrub at em they seem to still remain.

^^^ Maybe road tar? They're annoying though, for sure.

I tried out AA and I think I either didn't apply enough or didn't allow it to dry completely (the sun had just gone down when I applied it and I let it sit for ~1.5 hours). It appears a good amount slung off.

There is a noticeable difference, though. I'm going to try again this weekend and let it dry properly.
