Got pull over @ 90, but only a warning

I got pulled over today at 90mph, but the cop only gave me a warning.

I was testing (enjoying) my 330i in the morning to work, so, I floored it over 90mph on 580 around Oakland, and kind of slow down a bit around 80 something. I then looked back from the mirror, saw a police car behind and and its lights were flashing. I said to myself, "f*ck man, why? why? why me?". I knew he was after me, so, I flashed my turning light and stopped, and was still saying to myself "f*ck man, why did it happen to me?". The cop came out of the car and toward me, I rolled down my window, and miracle happened. He said, "I saw you were speeding earlier, but I only going to give you a warning this time, don't drive to fast, now, do you have a driver license". I was like, "oh, sorry, officer, I am sorry for speeding". I handed over my license, and the cop took a look and gave it back to me, and told me how to get back into the traffic and be careful. I was so happy and even shaked his hand.

Luck me, I better look carefully next time when I go over anything over 80mph. :rocks:

I think the Law now requires that cops give E90 owners warnings now. They say the huston video and said "Fukc, if I saw, drivers license and registration, the guy will take off" They learned there lesson that you will smoke them, and the only way for them to catch you is when your going on a one way and crash into a silver four door family sedan.

If your speedometer said you were going 90, you were only going about 84 - 85mph. If it was a 70mph speed limit, I am surprised he pulled you over at all.

I consider myself lucky because California speed limit is 65. I can't how much the speeding ticket fee and increase of my insurance will cost me, my mood was not even included yet

This is actually kind of funny to me considering the heat I took from my 100mph joy ride the other day. But as someone on that thread put it, think of a speeding ticket as a fine for using what you bought.

As I have said before, speeding tickets suck, yes, but life goes on. I did not buy an e90 to drive 65 in the right-hand lane. And if you are going to go above the posted limit willingly or on a regular basis, you need to have a good radar detector and you need to be completely aware of your surrounding at all times. And the radar detector merely plays a backup role, complete awareness is essential.

It is funny, but I can usually spot a cop on a straight road before my radar detector actually picks him up, and that means I am seeing him before he sees me. So, always be aware!

its crazy, same kinda thing with me today in the bay area, i was driving home from school tonite and i saw sirens flashing too and i was really worried because i was also testing my e90 for like the first 5 miles on the freeway going like 80-85 on 680 in concord( my escort solo 2 did not even go off so i was like wtf???). when i signaled and changed one lane over, he just kept going and i was feel way better. i think it was an undercover cop because it was a gold impala. but on another note, i think a classmate was trying to catch up to me because i kinda had to cut to get on to the freeway because this other guy cut into my lane... i burned him like 5 car spaces when i was making the turn into the freeway. i just hit 600 miles !!

I think the cop let me go without a ticket was because my 330i may be new to him and his has completed his speeding ticket quota for February. Because I can't really think of any reasons other than my good looking titanium silver 330i

WOW...with my luck he would have arrested me, tied my hands behind my back and kicked me in my teeth. I got pulled a few days ago...for passing a cop. That's right...not speeding...just for passing him. He was doing 64 in a 65. Who wouldn't pass that guy? I couldn't believe his tone either...acting all high and mighty. He said "You actually had the nerve to pass a state trooper." I wanted to say...and your point is? But I didn't... ...I just sat there and was a good boy. I get pulled for EVERYTHING.

I passed every cop at the speed limit +3mph in city and +5mph on freeway. If they stopped me, I would like to face them in the court for discrimination. so far, non of them has stopped me. I have 2 older brother cops, and I know the +5mph freeway rule.

Locally, we never got these sort of stopping for a warning something. If we were guned , there is no argument. If it is a police car/bike without a laser gun, he has got to take over me to prove that I am speeding. We have plenty of fixed radar cams, but those are unmanned. So , I dont quite understand how come a cop can stop you and tell you you are speeding?

Well doing 90 here you can get away with. I wouldn't advise it in Baghdad due to the bad traffic problems here but out on the highways you can do it. Just make sure not to hit a pothole.

But for the most part the Iraqi's and Americans have repaired the major roads (they use) in Iraq.

In Kuwait the traffic laws are almost nonexistant. If you do get a traffic ticket it's about 100KD (around 350 U.S.) but very rarely will you see a car pulled over for speeding. They mostly just use cameras here.

You are indeed fortunate. I got the only speeding ticket I've ever had in my life in my E90. Got caught in a speed trap and was given no break at all.

You guys need to come over to Europe, to know what speed is really about. Why do you bother with powerful 3.0 litre cars with such lame attitudes to speed limits.

I exceed 95 mph on a daily basis commuting from Bristol to London on the M4. And thats just in a 2.0 litre hire car Ford. Even in my 18 year old E30, 2.0 litre BMW I often take the chance of 100 mph+ when the conditions are right. I guess I will need to be careful that my new E90 325 Sports will not get me carried away.

Very fortunate, but when I go 90 in my car it feels like 55. Pretty scary.
