Smile buying a used jb4 locally.. help if you dont mind

the jb4 is for an n54 which i want, but the man told me that someone else tried to buy it and tried to put in on their m3..

but now its for sale for $300 i dont know if its g5. i want a g5 but not sure if ill find that much of a benefit going with g5 vs g4

this is a birthday present for me im currently running jb+ on max 35.9 psi intake manifold pressure i dyno 340ftlb and 305 hp on a MUSTANG DYNO(lower numbers than typical dynojet).. MAIN concern is what damage could the other guy who put (or atleast tried) in on his m3 before me.. Besides bent pins

A few things pass on a used unit that you don't know anything about. No way you are getting 35.9 psi on any thing you can attach to an N54. Big singles are in the low 20's

You might want to do more research on modding the engine before you go any further.

First go here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204091

Then go here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10605

If you still have any questions post back before you buy. I strongly echo the above suggestion that you read and learn about your engine before modding at all.

Sounds like a vacuum reading, more than a boost reading. I'll second whoever said to learn more about what you're getting yourself into...

Vacuum should be -22 and no more.
Live inky bought used jb4 and I got 4 and never had issues.
Honestly putting it on an m3 was stupid, but the only thing it would do is fry the car not the jb4.
It obviously wouldn't do anything on an m3 but give the DME the wrong readings.
It's not like increased current is going through it on the wrong car, the information going through the jb4 is data (besides the power wire) so I don't see why it would be a bad buy.
But it but tell the guy you want to be able to return it if it doesn't work.
But again sounds like you don't know too much about n54 tuning since you think your getting more that 20psi on a jb+
Jb+ give you maybe +5psi from what I remember

guys i said 35.9 intake manifold pressure but the actual boost is 15.9.. i was running some data logging deal and it didnt have the actual boost gauge built in but it had intake manifold pressure(if im not mistaken) reading 35.9 maximum i looked online and that translates to 15.9 actual boost.. which is what jb+ advertises.. hahah you guys just dogged that
