N55 mids vs cutting out cats on n54 mids?

Whats the difference?? Piping looks the same diameter. Same bends. Looks to be the same everything minus the cats. I can have this done for $100 rather that $350 on parts for n55 mids. Why dont i see anyone thats done this?

Ruins your stock midpipe. Most don't do it since they keep the stock parts just in case. Same reason most people don't gut their downpipes.

i gutted mine myself and its was honestly not bad at all if your handy and have the tools to cut and weld. If i were to do it again, i would just cut them out and weld in straight pipe though to cut down on the turbulence creating from the expanding and constricting of the exhaust gases which "may" lose power and just make it look cleaner..

Thanks! That will probably be my short term plan. i dont ever really keep stock parts anyway. Long term is a full berk sport exhaust.

I did this for 100$ at my local exhaust shop, cheaper if you don't care about being stock.

I gutted my cats and welded on a straight pipe. Drone will come into play, but it sounds so raw I rarely complain. Also, will smell like a muscle car from the 70s.
