How many of you guys are DIYers

im just curious to see how many people on this forum(besides vendors) who do all their own work> please dont take this as bash or me hating on anyone who isnt a DIYer...as i totally understand if someone doesnt feel comfortable working on thier 40k plus car. feel free to post on the poll and to this thread...and share what you've done to your car so far....

I do some minor things myself.
By now i have:
- hardwired my navi,
- Changed to L7 speakers
- Added L7 tweeters
- Changed to 135 kidneys

And I am going to istall an amp soon.
Bigger things i leave to the pros mostly because i dont want to woid my warranty.

I have the basic Euro system, without any tweeters. So i added the BMW Logic 7 speakers. (Changed the mid, added tweeters)

I tend to take things to the dealer while the car is in warranty, but once that is done I will do anything that needs to be done, with the exception of computer stuff unless somebody comes out with aftermarket diagnostic software.

I'm capable of doing all my own work, but I don't always have the time or facilities (my apartment complex wouldn't go for me being under the hood messing around for too long, let alone putting the car on jackstands). There are certain things, changing springs for example, that I can do, but I'm better off to pay someone with a shop to do because I'd make more money staying at work for the amount of time that it would take me to do the job.

Recently I made a trip back to VA where I have a family shop and did my downpipes. I'll do my own oil changes if it hits on a weekend where I'm going there, but otherwise I take it to a shop. If I were going to do something major, like a turbo swap, I'd take the car there and do it myself.

Within the next week or so I'll be doing a bunch of work to the car. Though I am going to helped by a friend who's a mechanic, so I feel pretty comfortable as long as I have him around. Here's the planned installs:

-M door sills
-shadowline kidney grills
-GP Thunder 7500k H8 and H3 bulbs
-performace front rotors
-RR intake scoops (already have the intake installed)
-RR downpipes (and O2 sim)
-RR exhaust
-RR DDV kit
-shortshift kit
-modified CDV

It's going to be a busy day working on the car.

I don't do much while the car is under warranty and free maintenance. On the 911 I will do most things that don't require Porsche special tools. I will do valve adjustments, full suspension changes, etc., but I won't attempt to set up a differential or rebuild an alternator or starter motor. I have rebuilt engines; but, never a transmission. I think changing most of the suspension on the 135 would be simple; but, I don't like the looks of the rear sway bar. I can't weld for anything and don't have a tubing bender; therefore, I had professionals do the roll cage (911).

theres no way but your own way... honestly I dont trust most dealerships to do anything. I'd like em to flash the latest software the reduced lag, but I do everythign else myself... heard too many horror stories.

Also too many stories of shops gouging.

I just got my 135, but on the E46 I installed:
-Front control arms & control arm bushings
-Rear shock mounts & rear trailing arm bushings
-Rear differential and subframe bushings
-TCKLine coilovers with camber plates & rear camber arms
-Front/rear ZHP sway bars with polyurethane bushings

of course with help from friends and having access to a nice garage. I have a set of UUC transmission mounts that I am going to install sometime soon assuming they fit.
