18k wow...i was in a similar accident a while back, the collision was at about 15mph so it was pretty minor, but the cosmetic damage looked ballpark similar to you. was about 7k when all was said and done.

Damn, good to see you're alright though.

I hit a small fox on the Autobahn a couple years back. And even though that was a small, soft, cuddly woodland creature, it still caused nearly $7k in damage.

Yup. Basically if the bumper, hood, and headlights take any damage that can't be buffed out, you're looking at >5K in damages. OP good that you walked away totally unscathed, i'm still surprised that it'll be over 18K in repairs though...do you know what needs to be replaced, outside of the headlights, hood, bumper, and lip? I'd imagine the radiator took it on the chin, my grills dented the crap out of it when I got in my fender bender.

I had a minor bump when I was stopped at a light that was probably more than 30 mph that came out to 8k and that was just the rear bumper and some reinforcement pieces. at 18K I would try to see if insurance can call it a total loss/totaled/wreck.

Would seem likely for a 2008, but maybe not a 2011?

Some insurance companies do as low as 60% of current value while others do as high as 80% but in the end it is based off of % of current value without taxes or fees. I would say a 2011 base is probably worth 30-35k range depending on condition etc (Could be lower or higher than that based on mileage, options and general area.)
18/30 = 60% so you aren't that far off from a total loss claim.
Flip-side 18/40 = 45% which wouldn't work as a total loss (But I would never pay 40k for a 2011 and neither would an adjuster value one at that either.)

Oh and my initial claim was 3k, then it jumped to 8k after they took the rear end of the car apart. I wouldn't be surprised to see 20-25k of damage just from those pictures alone.

So far...Hood, Lights, Rad, Oil Cooler, CTS Intercooler, Rad Support, BMP Grills, RPI Intake Ducts, Fenders, Bumper, Icarbon Lip, Toe Hook Plate Bracket, etc, etc and the big $$$ item: Engine frame rails are bent

Yup... they cover upto $5k without additional coverage. Won't be in the write off range until we get to at least $23k

I figured there must have been some sort of engine frame damage to have such a high cost...Sorry to see this man, hope everything works out for you and the car.
