long crank from cold - fuel pump or pressure regulator?

The last couple of days I've been getting long cranks on my 128i n52. Charged the battery, but the issue is still there. it fires right back up when started from warm, but if left to sit for ~30+ minutes it'll long crank again.

Does this sound like a fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump failure, or should I be looking somewhere else?

Car has 75k miles, and is on the original fuel filter. Only ever sees shell v power gas.

thank you

If i am not mistaken, there is no fuel filter in these cars, at least they are non serviceable and will last the lifetime of the car.

Long cranks when cold usually indicate a battery issue, do you get any error codes? Can you determine the voltage at least from the battery? It maybe the fuel pump, but since that problem goes away when warm, i am leaning towards the battery.

Maybe someone can chime in about this.
