Frankfurt Auto Show/SIM cards
Hey everyone. Is anyone planning on checking out the autoshow in Frankfurt next month? I'm planning on making a quick trip out with a friend from home. We are planning on spending a day at the Nurburgring too.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a Euro sim card for an unlocked iphone 4? So far my searching online leads me to believe O2 would be a decent option to go with. I use a T-Mobile pay as you go sim card when I go to the USA. It costs me US$3 per day of use and has basically unlimited data and voice. Is there anything similar over there? Hoping to meet a fellow 1M pilot at either venue. Colin

There are several you can choose from. Mediamarkt has plenty. O2 is ok. should have coverage in frankfurt well enough but probably crappy signal at the ring.
when are you coming out? I might be around.

O2 isn't a terrible choice, you can also pick up a cheap little vodaphone with prepaid minutes and just put the sim card in your iPhone.

I have O2. They have poor data speeds at Nurburgring but is ok for voice and MMS.
Frankfurt is covered by everyone.

We are planning on arriving Saturday, going to car show, then Nurburg Saturday and Sunday night. Planning on doing the ring thing all day Sunday. Colin.

You'll need a FULL day to see the IAA, and Saturday will be crowded as all hell. Go on a weekday if you can manage it.
There's a group of us going to the 'Ring on Sunday, hopefully the rain holds off...

I knew that it would be packed on Saturday, but the ring is supposed to be closed to the pubic on Monday and Tuesday. We have limited time, so this is how it is working out so far. The loads on the flights are not looking very good either right now, so we might end up arriving Sunday. In that case we will go straight to the ring, and do the car show Monday or Tuesday. There is an endurance race at the GP track (I assume) that we might check out.
Look for a 6'7" Canadian with poor knowledge of the German language in the parking area!!

Even if the 'Ring isn't open for tourist drives you can still hang out in the public viewing areas. If there's a BIG race you'll need to buy a ticket, if it's a small race or a testing day you can watch for free.
If you're there on Sunday, look for a group of 1ers with amber turn signals.
