Apple Siri "Eyes Free" for BMW
MORE DETAILS @ http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704041
If anyone was following the WWDC liveblog today they would have already seen the Apple's announcement of SIRI car-integration called 'Eyes Free" Interestingly enough, the demo pictures seemed to be all taken from BMWs (look like F10 to me) BMW was also first in the list of manufacturers promising to deliver a fully integrated solution within 12 months. Here's hoping there's going to be backward compatibility with older iDrive generations and/or BMW Apps. A few more pics: The fact that the voice control system will work without the display even turning on is encouraging news. Also, if you're an Android fan, good for you. No need to crap all over this thread. Thank you. MORE DETAILS @ http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704041

If I have to guess? They will force us to buy new cars... BMW has not been upgrading software in their cars very actively. I dream of a customer support / upgrade similar to the Sonos devices. That is how stellar support of hardware should be. And hey a car is a bit more expensive than a music player.
I hope we get this as an upgrade. Should be easy to support with a software upgrade... Lets hope... |

Apple is the same company that makes you buy a new "music player" when the battery dies out! (or did). Almost the same as BMW wanting us to buy a new car every few years via SW "fixes".
