That's it. I'm done.

This damn breaking thing is just ridiculous to do, and I officially gave up today.

I have one word for this car. HOOLIGAN.
Quote:
hoo·li·gan - (hl-gn)

n.
A tough and aggressive or violent youth.
young violent, destructive or badly-behaved
I'm not the type to want to zip in and out of traffic, but this car wants you to put a heavy shod foot down.

I found myself getting fed up with people going 75 (in mild early Saturday morning traffic).

I found myself doubling the speed limit on a very twisty section of (empty) road, where the speed limit was already generous.

I found myself testing this "understeer thing", and found that there is no such thing in this car, with a bit more right foot pressure.

I found myself kicking the rear end out, and powering around a slow sweeper, Tokyo drift style.

I found myself popping on the throttle in traffic, not having that much room, only so I can feel the acceleration followed by those fantastic brakes.

I found myself wringing it out to redline (not telling which gear), just to see where the torque stops. Let me tell you. It doesn't.

I found myself rev-match downshifting, with a quick blip, just to hear more of the engine music, then going back up a gear and repeating for no reason.

I found myself looking from side to side, incognito style eye movement only, shades on, finding people checking out the 1, or trying to catch up to catch a glimpse from a slower lane. Normally, I could care less what others think.

This car is a HOOLIGAN!! You could easily become a menace to society in it, rack up more tickets than laws permit, locked up and key be-gone, etc. Be careful out there. This car make you want to do bad, bad things. Please be respectful of what this car wants you to try to do.

Quote:
bu-bu-bu-but, Your Honor, it was the HOOLIGAN that made me do it. I swear to you.

that's hilarious! I've done many of those things as well ... and yeah I never paid much mind to the break-in advice anyway. glad to see you've succumbed!

I generally only wait ~500 miles before getting more agressive with a car. Forunately enough, I'm driving ALMOST that far on my first day after european delivery pickup! :-D

A short autobahn jaunt, followed by some good alpine roads should do the trick for getting the tranny and engine run in initally over a good RPM range.

Larry, do us a favour and hook up a video camera to your custom built clamp and get some footage of this "hooligan" in action!

Post haste!

PS, I suppose this means a good radar detector is needed. However, I could have told you that after my test drive :-D

The car BEGS to be flogged.

Hahahah. Yup

Nice post. I wanted to know where does the torque trail off, since I have been shifting at 4krpm for break-in, now I know it extend to infinity!

I have found myself with immature behaviors in the past week as well. Behaviors that I thought have long left me. Situations like when people tail me, I respond with a full squeeze of throttle and left them hopeless trailing behind me.

I'll compliment you for a terrific post that captures the essence of this car.

The thread on the question of red-light challenges that I had recently brought up was one that you seemed to have issue with at the time. Now, you seem to understand a lot better why I raised such a question. The car is indeed a hooligan and can easily seduce it's driver into compromised situations. Situations worthy of honest acknowledgment and discussion, even if contraversial.

Wonderful post, but beware the message to the son's and daughters, right?... just kidding you... LOL!
