"Tobias" - My 2013 135i

Alright, so my car has had quite a few changes recently and I've been terrible about documenting them, this thread will be my attempt at fixing that.

First things first.... "origins".... Tobias started life as a stock car with most available options and Carbon Black paint. Owned first in Germany and then shipped to the US, where I became the second owner.

The Basics:
  • 2013 BMW 135i M-Sport
  • 6MT
  • Carbon Black Paint
  • Black Boston Leather
  • Glacier Silver Trim

In *mostly* stock form:

135iv2-10 by Matt Steele, on Flickr

I quickly started on the modifications, and here is the current list:

Performance:
  • Pure Stage 1 Turbo - Custom Dyno Tuned by TTFS
  • GFB DV+
  • TTFS/XDI HPFP
  • Full Custom Exhaust
  • AFE Stage 2 Intake
  • VRSF 7in Intercooler
  • CP-E Charge Pipe
  • VRSF Lower Charge Pipe
  • BC Racing Coilovers
  • 1-Step Colder NGK Spark Plugs
  • Michelin Pilot Super Sport's - 225/40r18 front, 255x35r18 rear

Interior/Exterior:
  • Full Wrap in 3m 1080 Gloss White
  • Schroth Quick-Fit Harness
  • Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood with Aerocatch Latches
  • 1M Rep Front Bumper
  • Custom Painted Kidneys
  • LUX H8 V5 LED Angel Eyes
  • Cowl-Delete with BMS Cowl Filters
  • 35% Tint Driver/Pass, 30% Rear, 5% Windshield Banner
  • BMW Performance Shift Knob
  • Custom Rear Diffuser
  • Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler
  • VMR 710's in Hyper Silver - 18x8.5 et 40 front, 18x9.5 et50 rear
  • Sunglass Holder (replaces overhead driver grab-handle)

Tuned to 404whp and 440wtq on 93 octane:

That's for sure!

I'm considering making a section for mods that have "come and gone" lol... There's a number of things I've done to this car that have since been retired.

How do you like the Schroth harness? I find myself struggling to stay in one place at the track but I'm a little skeptical this would help that much.

I've got non-sport seats in my 128i. It helps, but not much. Most of the benefit I saw was under braking. I'm still bracing myself in corners and flying all over the cabin (not as much as before, mind you). Our cars really need more bolstering

More pictures of the harnesses, how they are mounted, and how they are "legal" with BMWCCA.

Two things:

1. Those harnesses were almost mine, you're welcome.
2. The Sun glass holder tray that replaces the handle is probably one of the best mods I have ever done.

Car is coming along nice, good job.

You have to install buckles where the driver's side front and rear seat belts mount to the chassis, and the other side of the harness buckles into the standard seat belt receptacles. I'll edit with some close-ups when I get home in a little bit. It runs over your shoulders and then between the seat back and the head rest.

Yeah. I want to splurge a bit and reserve myself a Performance Aero front bumper before they're gone too.

There is some info on the Performance front bumper in this thread. Go to Divbetic's post #21 for some details about ordering the front bumper (if it's still available).

Not blowing smoke, I think this is pretty damn close to the perfect 135i. Any more power and you've lost street-ability, imho. 400whp in a 3300lb car is perfect for daily, canyons, and track fun. Big power and torque at 5500rpm, my car starts to die at 4900rpm. Holding 300+ whp to 6500rpm is nice. Huge power band. Great build my man, very similar to what I'll end up doing. You could probably make 450whp on ethanol.

Little things my Saturn Astra 2dr came standard with that my BMW didnt, and I miss.
Sunglass holder (I know about $5 on eBay), two trip odometers, side bolsters.

Very similar builds! How do you like the 1M front rep bumper? I feel like I'd scrape more as it maybe hangs down a bit lower.

Like it a lot so far, helps keep me in place which is all I needed it for.

This is the only other pic I haven't shared yet, I'm away for a while but can do a write up on them when I get back!

Yup found it new on eBay! Love it so far, much smaller than the ridiculous stock one and nice heavy weight to it.

Wow thanks!! I've been extremely happy with it since the tune and recent mods. There are only a few things that I'd like to change now, primarily the LSD and then a different wheel/tire setup for proper fitment, these are slightly aggressive and rub a bit much.

It's definitely lower and scrapes more, but where it scrapes is underneath a good bit so you can't tell unless you're under the car. I love the look and it has a bit more room for the FMIC compared to stock since the lower grille is slightly more forward.

I agree. Very tastefully done and a gorgeous car!

As I mentioned in your other thread...more power is addictive but it comes at diminishing returns at a point. It only took me 25 years to realize that!
