Question on pads & sensors - 135i Calipers

I bought a set of lightly used 135i calipers a few years back from another 128i owner, and put them on my car. They came with pads so I didn't have a choice to make then.

I'm due for new rotors/pads now, and I see most websites reference production dates to choose the pads and sensors. I didn't think there were changes to the calipers at all other than paint colour (they were painted darker in later years I think, LCI). Why would the pads or sensors be different? Is it a different compound rather than fit?

Makes pad selection a trial and error exercise for me since the calipers I have came separate from the car so production date doesn't apply! How would I tell which pads / sensors apply to me?

Thanks in advance.

The earlier versions of the calipers were painted darker. I am not aware of any difference in the pads. There is a superceeded part number however, but it's the same pad.
For the sensor, use whatever ETK specifies for your 128i. I personally just tie back the sensor to make pad changes less of a hassle.
