OS Giken LSD

I have decided to go high end for my LSD. Desire a full pumpkin swap for DCT ratio LSD (2.56). Request recommendations on who to buy from. Thx.

I bought a complete bolt in pumpkin from Diffsonline and it was a fantastic experience - highly recommended. I had a custom ramped clutch type built for me similar to a few other 128 guys and it is the best mod I did to the car, no exaggeration. The OSG is a great product too, but I'd not hesitate to chat with the guys at Diffsonline.

I think the first decision you have to make is whether you want a clutch, or helical. Decision is mostly determined by intended use of car.

Thx! diffsonline and VAC seem to be the two go-to's, but I wanted to see if there were other options.

Already decided...clutch. This is a dual use track car but may end up track only. Other track rats who starting with helical seem to say they wished they had gone clutch instead and ended up there anyway.

Check out the Cusco website, as it has a lot of good info on clutch lsd's, and the different setups you can do. Then talk to a diff builder and get his opinion and recommendation. You might also look into Mfactory, as they have a newly designed clutch lsd that has some nice specs.

Also, as nice as the OS Giken lsd is, I've heard of some issues with their BMW model. No firsthand knowledge, but there are threads out there.

Reach out to Dan at Diffsonline 100%. He's great, super knowledgable and will make the whole thing effortless. Tell him I sent you and that you're on my old suspension setup, he'll take care of you

I'm in love with my DiffsOnline 3-clutch with the 35/60 ramps (1.5-way). Super quiet and refined. Until you're balls deep in a turn and the rear end is coming unstuck, you don't even notice it there.

My former MFactory 1.5-way was always making noise and chattering, and didn't work nearly as well or as smoothly. It seems like the OSG is hit-and-miss, some people have no issues and love theirs, and some have had terrible experiences.

Why did you choose to do the in-house diffsOnline diff over the OS Giken? I thought I was decided on the OSG, but I want to hear your opinion because they are the exact same price on diffsOnline. Does DiffsOnline offer any type of warranty? if so, that would be a yuuuuge factor for me since I have seen some horror stories about OSG in the forums

I went with the in-house diff because I've seen a few too many issues with the OSG diff. DiffsOnline offers a 2-year warranty against poor workmanship, and they have an impeccable reputation in the industry. It was a no-brainer to me.

Having driven 2,000 miles on it in the past month, I couldn't be any happier. It's extremely quiet and civilized, but locks up smoothly and exactly as much as you need. It's amazing.
