Well, that happened.

Just found my rear end clunking; two MISSING inner axle bolts, with one on its way out...

EDIT: So far, no enchilada. Tightened down the remaining bolts, and no change in the clunk. We'll see if it was in fact the issue when the replacement bolts get here. Maybe it's just a newfound part of having a 1.5-way differential...

Hmmm take a good look at axles, or sway bar?

Also 1.5ways are just clunky but how specifically?

Pretty sure the TIS says to replace the bolts. I didn't, and haven't had any issues.... but I might go check the bolts now lol. I think I dabbed them with blue RTV though.

Yup! I got pretty lucky. It's the only one I've seen in the states and he lives half an hour from me. I'm sure there could be more but it's certainly rare. And I got it for a great price considering what they go for new and shipped to the states

Very cool. Seibon makes a similar one but you either get the M3 style vents or the GTR style vents, not both. I opted for the M3 style since I wanted to make sure I had an easy setup for my Aerocatch system and I've been happy with it.

Curious if you can figure out the brand of that hood once you get it!

2.5 bar all round, on either 225/40/18s summer or 225/45/17 winters.

2.5 bar fronts are a bit...stiff but fine, door says 2.3 front and 2.5 rear.

A downside of rear-wheel-drive. Especially with all that torque.

What tires are you getting?

Just sticking to a new pair of Hankook V12's for the rear. At this rate, the fronts will need to be replaced the next time I have to do the rears again. I'll change it up next time. No complaints from the V12's aside from the low life expectancy lol

Swapped out the summer wheels and tires for the winter wheels and tires I picked up last year for $100. They have a season or two left, and don't look too bad.

I also painted the hats and calipers.

Pretty sure the TIS says to replace the bolts. I didn't, and haven't had any issues.... but I might go check the bolts now lol. I think I dabbed them with blue RTV though.
Sway bar, and end-links are practically new back there.

I've read, mostly on Nissan 240SX, etc. (because racecar) forums that they clunk when they engage/disengage, but that isn't the noise I'm getting, so that mostly rules the diff out (pheww).

TIS does say to replace them I didn't either, and ended up like this. I, however, did not put loctite on them I ordered all of the bolts for both the driveshaft and axles since I was ordering, and since I'd be picking them up at the dealer (the dealer actually had best pricing for once).

After about 10 minutes of poking-around and listening with the car on jack stands, and my dad shifting between first and reverse and quickly releasing the clutch, we've narrowed it down to the center support bearing. The clunk is coming from that area, we can't hear a peep from the diff, and you can almost feel the clunk through the floor in the back seat. Guess I'll be doing that...and an exhaust finally.

I have the BMW Performance suspension for my 135i and I'm not that impressed with it (will be changing it in a week or so). Honestly, you should go with something else imo.

The BMWPS for the 135i is NLA, not sure about the kit for the 128i. Think the only difference between the 2 kits is the addition of a rear sway bar for the 128i, but the kits have different part numbers, so like I said, not sure if the one for the 128i is still available.

I believe the Performance springs are still available, though. They are separate from the kits and based on your VIN, as you probably already know.
