Lexus Build & Price is up

www.lexus.com

It's about time.

I didn't consider the IS350, since it isn't available in a stick.
I went to price out the IS350 with the options I got on my 330i just for fun.
I was severly disappointed when I discovered there are no options!
The only package is 18" wheels w/ summer tires (not a sport package like the 330i that comes with suspension, wheels, seats, steering wheel, it's only wheels for the IS350)
The options were just basic crap that should either be standard,
thrown in for free, or you just don't need, they include:
Trunk mat
Wheel locks
Cargo net
All-weather floor mats
Car cover

...and that's it.
So I picked my exterior and interior colors,
added on the 18" wheels,
and I was done.

330i: ~$42k
IS350 (with auto):$36,750

That stinks that you can't choose anything extra,
lame Japanese cars,
at least it comes with a decent amount of things standard.

Nothing to add, since everything is practically standard on a Toyota IS350, but a BMW is a BMW.

The IS250/350 is a Lexus now. They are sold everywhere, including Japan, as a Lexus.
Unless you mean that Toyota makes Lexus.

I have nothing bad to say about the Lexus IS.....

It's an awesome car....and probably better built in
terms of quality and realiabity......

but I wouldn't trade my 330i for it.

welcome to the japanese cars. They are sold differently compared to the european cars. All the packages are just different trims in japanese cars. They mostly come fully loaded. As for Lexus, the quality just doesn't worth that much money. The leather and other trims look so plastic, I'd expect them to be in a camry. I'd never buy a japanese car

Actually, the reason you don't see any options is because you can only see what is "locally available", as determined by the zip code you put in when you do the Lexus online version of the "Build your vehicle". In the California market, they are coming pretty bare from what people are saying. It's a big complaint heard on Lexus forums that you can't go online and build the car the way you want it, print it out, and bring it to the dealership to order.

However, there should be a page you can click on to see what option packages are available to you and the MSRP on them.

One thing to note, if you get any of the "luxury" packages or no options at all, you are stuck with the wood trim, and if you elect the "sport/performance" package, you are stuck with the metallic trim (it's not even real aluminum!). And some interior colors are not available with certain exterior colors. Makes me really appreciate the degree of freedom we have with the e90, and the quality and look is much, much better in my opinion.

check out their price/options page instead if you want to price out your car...their build page is weird b/c it only shows cars that are in inventory in your region.

Thanks for the info.
That's why whenever I build a Lexus, I can never find certain packages/options that I know is offered.

The luxury package is way pricey at $8,899.00! The standard version at $36.7k seems reasonable. Let's hope BMW matches that price level with the 335i.

That's odd that they do it that way,
and that there aren't any packages available in my area.

So does this mean that they install these packages at the dealer?
It doesn't make sense, if they're all coming from the factory,
They should all have the same options available, right?
And even so, they should just list all of the available packages,
and just say at the bottom that some may not be available in your area.

http://www.lexus.com/lexusConfigApp/...tartOptions.do & click "Next".
There's no way the dealer is installing these.

I'm not sure you should buy the lexus if you can't figure their website out.

I kid, I kid!!!

No need to be vicious about it,
I'm just curious about the competition,
and quite a few members here do not own an e90,
but are simply in the market for one.

Actually, there are several folks here that drive other brands. Plenty of room for everyone. Maybe there is a thread on a Lexus board talking about the 3 series too....

I would bet Lexus forums talk more about Bimmers than BMW forums talk about Lexus. Lexus (and Lexus owners) is the one trying to knock off the leader and therefore will spend much of its time justifying itself. On the other hand, BMW (and BMW owners) tends not to talk about other cars because who wants to talk about a car that does not fit the requirements of a true driver's automobile?

Don't blast me about generalizations, this is just my opinion.

You're probably right. No use bashing people for the brand of car they prefer. Think how boring it would be if everyone drove an E90.

True, but the site is called "E90 post" not "any damn car you feel like talking about post".
