PC Delievery in the Rain??
Friday is the day...FINALLY!! I will be picking up our AW 135 Friday in Spartanburg.
The only downer is after checking the weather for this week it is calling for 30% chance of isolated T-Storms. Has anyone taken delievery in the rain?

It will go on rain or shine. But during the summer, there's a chance of t-storms everyday in SC. All the driving should be done in the morning before any t-storms have a chance to pop up.
It seems like time has flown by from when you guys ordered it, but it probably seemed a lot longer being on the waiting end. Make sure D takes you to the same "clubs" he took me to on my delivery last year.... ;-)

It has been a long wait....but all in all it hasn't been that bad. Only a couple of knock down, drag out fights in the car while car-pooling! ;-)
As far as the "clubs" go.....Ha! I didn't even show you the good ones!! Saved those for K this weekend!

These last few days feel like years...today feels like I have been sitting at my desk for a month.
As for the clubs, D said you were the party animal and made him visit those clubs. Now the truth comes out.

Yes...it is actually going to be my wifes car (hopefully for the short term). But I'm always jockeying for wheel time!
We had three vehicles (03 Corvette, Nissan Titan and Nissan Murano). Sold the vette and realized that the two cars we had left were not even remotely fun to drive!! So, ended up trading the Titan in for the 1er.

It threatened rain a bit on our delivery 7/21 but there was never any talk of calling things off. I'm sure they could find some umbrellas for the brief times you are not in the cars or you could just get a little wet. It also almost always rains until later in the day in the summer here in SC (I live about an hour and a half from the PC). We did the driving first thing, then the factory tour, then the delivery so we were done on the track around 10:30am. We were outside for a few seconds getting to the museum but I'm sure that could be managed in the rain. Donnie's hot lap would have to be a bit different but I bet he's done it in the rain before.

I did my PCD in the rain. It added a nice element to the autocross. I can still hear Donnie saying "the gas pedal is not an on/off switch" as I got the car a little sideways and then saying that I was thanking my lucky stars for DSC.
The hot lap was not as hot as it would have been in the dry because Donnie couldn't get all 500 horses down. But, the worse part was driving my shiny new 135i out of the little showroom and into the rain. Then, it rained nearly the entire trip home. But, I got the car to drive not to sit there and look pretty. Nevertheless, it would have been nice to have had at least a couple of minutes in a clean new car. |

All good stuff.....will get pics up as soon as we can. The madness has already started as we bought the blacked out kidney grills and tint is planned in the very near future.
We go lucky in that our delivery is on a Friday and found out that they aren't offering the plant tours on Friday at this point (shortened production schedule). So they were able to fit us in on Thursday for the plant tour. Should be a great long weekend!

There was a steady drizzle when I picked mine up. It didn't impact the "funness" of the day, but I definitely would have preferred a sunny day. The biggest downer was they put us on a shorter, safer autocross track from what I've seen other people do. There were 4 of us out there and after 3 laps I would run up on the back of the car in front of me and have to slow down. |

Pavement was dry for me and I still caught the 6 series in front of me in two laps (not his fault, it was traffic ahead of him). I had to come off the track several times to let the 3s and a X5 get far enough ahead I could get on it for at least a partial lap.

Its a small track and also it doesnt matter about the car, its the drivers that hold things up. The best thing you can do is slow down for one lap and get a big gap. Then you can make it up on the next lap or two.
