Hmm, I don't know if going to 400 is a good idea. I went as far as 800 (wet) and the results were okay. I plan to try again and be a lot more methodical about it.

Gah! I would never use 400 on headlights. You'll be sanding with 1000 for an hour just trying to remove all the striations. 800 should be more than enough to remove any pitting.
