To add on with a question. Is the 135i Performance Exhaust essentially the same as the 128i one? I know some minor mods may be required to make it fit, but are there any major drawbacks design wise because it was technically created for a 135i?

It's not the same, but all the hanging points etc should be the same. I don't know off hand if it's just a muffler or comes with more piping, if it's just a muffler like the 128i PE, a good exhaust shop should be able to fit it with no issues to your 128i. There may be a small pipe diameter difference, but as I said, a good exhaust shop will make it work.

The first pic is the Performance exhaust for the 128i. The second pic is the Performance exhaust for the 135i, so you can see the difference. The Performance exhaust for the 128i is NLA, as you probably already know.

Oh interesting, thanks for posting that. Looks like a lot more work involved than I originally imagined.
Are there any aftermarket options that are similar to the PE for the 128i? The one thing I really want to avoid is any drone. |

I'm bringing this thread back because I'm planning to try this if I cannot locate a 128i performance exhaust anywhere. It would not be hard to make the 135i PE fit on the 128i. The inner diameter of the 135i exhaust seems to be about 67mm and the sleeve that comes in the 128i PE kit is 65mm. That means the 135i pipe should fit over the stock 128i pipe fairly snugly if you cut it.
The bends and hanger mount on the 135i PE seem to be in exactly the same place as 128i. That gives you two options. You can leave the 135i PE exhaust alone and use a thicker gasket at the mid-pipe and connect them that way. You could also cut the 135i PE inlet exactly how the 128i PE pipe comes from the factory and have a muffler shop weld them. The only question is, how will it sound? Is the 135i PE inherently louder to make up for the turbos? I don't know anyway to answer this without trying it. |

https://www.1addicts.com/forums/showpost.php?p=24174318 He couldn't find the PE for the 128i either so he bought the 135i PE instead. Check his earlier posts to read about it.

Look for a post from Suhb , he had this combo and posted a video (it was me asking for a video). He also had the headers + PE combo and might have posted a video of that too... |
