Don't look at it or call the dealer. The very first thing you should do is get a Carfax. Even though it may not reveal everything about the condition of the vehicle, it'll often reveal problems and reason to pass on it.

Some of you clowns are too lazy and cheap to lay out a couple of dollars for a Carfax. Often you come here asking the forum members to give you a free CarFax. You even have the gall asking for a critique of a vehicle. Another example is I often provide information about various subjects, and some idiot asks me to verify it for them! It's about time you learn how to do these things yourself. Your lives will be punctuated with financial decisions. You better be prepared to handle them!

Now being the Xmas season, it is the season to spread some good cheer. To help you out, there is a free substitute for CarFax:

I use it all the time, and I find it gives me as much information as CarFax. Another tool to find vehicles for sale use:

www.AutoTempest.com

Finally, to negotiate the price of a car can't successfully be done in one day. Often the best response to a salesman is, "I'll think about it!" Learn to be patient and be very reluctant to part with a dollar.

CarFax doesn't show everything that's happened to a car. Is It worth it, sure. Just don't depend on it to be accurate.

Experian AutoCheck is another vehicle history report that sometimes contains information you may not find in a Carfax and is comparably priced.

First step should be to decide if the car is a 1er or not.
If the car is a 1er then proceed.

If not then reevaluate car choice until you decide on a 1er.

No such thing as carfax here, or anything similar.

Give the VIN to dealer and see if anything shows up, even then....its still dodgy.
