By the time you add all the options on - I would say it would be close to the E46 M3 pricing - which is around the 140k on road. I would say the CF roof would be a few grand.

I was just thinking that extremely limited numbers would garner a pretty hefty premium. But definitely $120-130k is definitely a lot more reasonable.

I would like to order one, but I think the price will be out of my reach, sadly.

I only ask because the 1M will be released at the end of the E82's lifecycle and people may not want to buy a car already very old. If the Z4M sold well, then it may be safe to say the 1M will too. If it didn't then maybe Australia buyers know that it's a bit outdated and will wait.
Possibly, but which M3 is held in the highest regard and kept it's value the most? The original four cylinder E30 M3 is held in higher regard than the E36 and has kept it's value better than the brilliant E46.

a couple reviews have mentioned the numbers will not be limited, like the 135i was limited but then wasn't, this could be an important part of the price

I am certain the 135 1M will be manufactured in limited numbers.

Yeah right - limited to the number BMW can sell!

Cause it won't be limited. It will conicide with the end of production of the 1 series. I guess they can only build so many in that time frame. I still think it is going to be a two years production as the 1er is also getting a LCI and I can't imagine them having a LCI for only 1 year.

Ordered as in spec'd up? Deposit paid? I'm a bit worried I'm missing something. I put my deposit down at Kloster yesterday. The GM Nathan, was great and said he'd forward any info as it comes along.

Really excited about this and can't wait to see what the options are going to be like!

Nah, just put cash down and wait till pricing and option etc comes out, January maybe. The dealer reckon it won't be more expensive than a 335i so....... who knows.

First in the queue at that dealer, ie on the front row of the the grid

Really? I guess a spec up 335i now is 140 list so I guess may be that's about right.

Awesome! Congratulations mate! Are you going to keep the M3 as well?

I didn't really ask too much on pricing but he said he really didn't know and didn't want to speculate. Seemed like a good guy and was very direct and I really respect that. No other deposits there either - a lot of enquiry though apparently. I just don't want to lose out on the allocation, was considering the multiple deposits you mentioned - but this guy seemed confident he can get me one.

Well me to start with... I do have several books and mags reviewing and comparing these models so I can quote some names and publications if needed. Just start googling M3 though and read the reviews.
  • The E30 was the first M3 which seems to make it more collectible.
  • Try comparing on-line prices for E30 and E36 M3s. E30's, particularly the Evo's, seem to be doing much better.
  • To a much larger extent than the E36 it won mutilple touring car championships around the world, often against bigger more powerful cars.
  • It's significantly lighter than the E36 and generally considered to be a better looker.
  • It's considered to be more of a raw "track" car whereas the E36 has been said to be more of a "grand tourer".
