Question for people with a Valentine V1

I'm gonna to buy a V1. I used to have an Escort Passport 8500 and it has a mute button on the cig lighter plug which the V1 does not. Do you have to buy the concealed display to get that feature?

You can mute the V1 by pressing the dial on the V1 unit itself or using the concealed remote mute button. I do not know of another method.

yep, pressing the button - mutes it.

More importantly you should know there are two volume levels - You set 1 for the initial alarm detection and then the 2nd. You can keep the volume the same or have it drop in volume. You set both !! This is great, set it to get your attention and then have it drop back.

Another V1 related question. Is there an easy way to hardwire into the back of the rear view mirror on the 135? My Vette has that and it took 2 minutes for me to poke in 2 wires into the harness in back of mirror amd along with a handy visor mount my V1 is nicely mounted and hardwired to turn on and off with ignition. It would be great to do the same with the BMW.

There is a DIY write up on this forum on getting power from the sun roof panel, although it is going to take more than two minutes. I simply ran wires up from the fuse panel, using an 'add-a-circuit'. They are hidden under the door rubber, then run up the windshield mouding. That took about an hour.

thanks man, yeah I was kinda disappointed I couldn't make it to the meet cuz of the window incident. My V1 arrives today with concealed display and the hard wire kid. The replacement window is going to be put in tomorrow.
