HD Radio and RDS Standard in 2010?
I just ordered my 135i, this is my first post here.
Some online info, especially on the tracking page where it lists the "standard configuration items" or whatnot for the 135i, seem to indicate that the 135i with standard audio now seems to include an HD Radio receiver. Is this true? I never got the impression HD Radio was standard in the 2009 model, or even in 2010. |

yep, the 2010 have HD radio in standard system. However, the standard system no longer includes the 10 speaker system with the 8" subs. it is a 6 speaker system with 6.5" subs - no big deal if you were planning on update your system anyway

I just found out the actual speakers in the 2010 base audio package are inferior to base for MY2009, so I am trying to see if my dealer can change the order. It just went in Wednesday evening, so I'm hopeful they can do the upgrade to Premium. I don't want to have to do an aftermarket system, if the factory system is good, I'll be happy with it. But I'm sensing the base audio won't rise to my definition of "good" with the changes they made for 2010.

Yeah, the stock radio has HD/RDS, but is pretty bad. I mean, it gives you audio - but it's nothing to write home about. I miss my IS350 ML system

mattssi et al.,
The dealer was not able to change my order, so base system w/ 6 speakers plus the two 6.5" subs is what I'm getting. mattssi, you mentioned in the 2010 Changes thread in the general forum some upgrades you had done, any chance I can get you (and others) to elaborate on what you'd recommend as an upgrade path to the 2010 standard audio package? I listen to a lot of electronic music, with a lot going on in all ranges, incl. some stuff that goes low low low. Another goal is to not take over my entire trunk with subs and amp, if it can be helped. ;-) I'll also throw in that I currently own, from a Toyota Echo I used to drive actually, heheh, a 300W Pioneer amp and accompanying 10" (I think, maybe it's a 12") Kicker Comp subwoofer in cabinet. Not sure if you guys feel this stuff might have a place in a new system for the 135i. Very curious to see what you guys think absolutely needs replacing, speaker-wise, in the 2010 standard package, what maybe just doesn't have enough power going to it out of the box but serves a role in an upgraded system, what kind of head units and amps would work well in an upgraded system (esp. stuff that has HD Radio and can integrate with the 135i Smartphone Integration package). Major thanks in advance! Please assume you're talking to a serious audio noob. |
