It better! I'm pretty sure our cars come from the same factories so they better be ready to fix them so they don't burn up in flames. Hardly fair that everyone else would get a fire-free car.

I think a lot of the current safety recalls are just due to new technologies. If you look at the Toyota issues, it was due to the DBW system, and this recall is realated to additional safety equiment that's only really come into mainstream use over the last 3 or 4 years.

Cars today have a hell of a lot of little explosive charges in them. There are 8 in the airbags, and at least two more in the front seatbelts. It doesn't surprise me that once they start seeing some real world use a few problems are surfacing.

I don't think this is a big deal honestly, as long as they figure out how to deal with it and don't drag their feet.

so this isn't really a recall yet, as they do not have a fix yet for it. I really wonder what percentage of vehicles tested for this actually experienced this issue. Sounds like BMW may be really proactive in protection of its consumers even if this was a rare occurence

Hey Guys,

The other day I got a email from my selling dealer (US Military Sales). He said my car needs to have this recall done. He did not call it a recall but rather a SERVICE ACTION! He said I should schedule an appointment to have this done. The fix will take between 60 and 90 minutes.

What I found interesting was just two weeks prior... I asked another BMW dealer over here (I know these guys better and they are nice guys) they said my car had no open recalls. So... it looks like BMW is starting to recall cars one at a time.

Btw... my car is a 2010 M.Y. US Specs, Jan 2010 build.
