So, if I want to pull the pins and add camber (this brace is already on my car) I’ll need to remove the rings on the tops of the struts completely? Also, is there adjustment built into the bar to allow the camber adjustment?

Actually just a quick note, yes the bars allow for some adjustment for camber, but you will be limited in the amount of camber you can run because the holes aren't that much bigger than the threads so adjustment is minimal, and the rings mount over the old brace mounting point with minimal clearance.

For reference I have -3.5 deg, and in order to make the 1M brace work, I had to slot the holes on the bars, and grind down the old brace mounting point to get the 1M rings to fit over them.

Easy access to rebound adjustment tho is priceless, well... $350 from bmwpartstore lol

n54pete , are you on stock or m3 arms? Reason why I ask is I am at 3.8 degrees camber and did none of that. Just bolt up the brace and adjust my camber plate to max. But I am also running m3 arms.

Is that a carbon wrap on the bar?

Update: I'm an idiot, looking at it again, its cuz the previous owner slotted the strut tower holes to get the camber he wanted, but not sure why, as it has camber plates so he could have done the same as you and adjusted the camber plates to max to do the same, o well, its done now.

and yes wrap on the bar cuz rice life lol

Yes, you only need to adjust your camber plates to get that amount of camber. Hopefully not too much damage was done to your strut tower.

Good I found this topic. Or not, well the wallet at least disagrees.

Just ordered all the parts. Will be the first mod on my just acquired 135i.

Looks so much nicer.

Awesome BMW. Sell all the bits, except not the 6 special shoulder nuts. NLA everywhere.

If someone knows a set (6) please send me a pm.

My parts guy does have them on order, but delivery was pushed back from end of February to June! And the new partnumber he showed but, well, that's the old P/N of the special E36 M3 strutbrace's capnuts.

I have a spare set of these, but they are 1: too high and 2: the threaded part is too thin and will not center the mount.

Unless they call an audible and the old partnumber is now used for a complete new part (or the original 1M shouldernut) as that wouldn't be the first time they did.

Guess I will have to wait untill june to find out.

This is the link to the kit they used to sell. If you click on kit contents, it has a link to the nuts that came with the kit, which is the link I provided. You could call them to verify.

So here we are, 5 months later and the back order of the strut nuts finally came in.

Well F*** me and F*** BMW. They changed the partnumber to the BMW E36 M3 (Euro) Motorsport Strutbar capsnuts, that are specific to this model. While they technically fit, they are higher than the original nuts, which means the nice little cover that goes with this conversion, sits too high.

These people have no clue what they are on about. So now waiting an order from USA for some aftermarket replacements with correct fitment.

Now that I'm at it...I wonder doesn't this mod interfere with camber settings? I can see that on my car they did the camber mod with the removal of the locatig pin, to add a little.

Now since these strutmounts connect to these threads, I wonder. Or is there some play allowed in the fitment to compensate for this?

Put the original nuts on and cover them with the caps.

That's what I did. Works fine, they're ugly but you can't see them so who cares.

The original nuts are NLA.

That's the whole point. I wouldn't bother with any others if they were still available.

I mean I could use the new ones and run no cover. But I want to run the cover.

Can you take an angle grinder to the nuts and shorten them?

Well technically yes, but these special capnuts are expensive and since I have a Euro E36 M3 with the original BMW Motorsport strutbrace, I'll keep these as spares.

I already ordered a set from ECS that has the correct height, so now just waiting for these to arrive.

It sounds like you’re having a hard time finding the nuts. All I was trying to say is post a link to what you ordered.
