Radio not working at all...
So, over the past week there has been two mornings that when I got in the car the radio will not work. The display comes on and it shows the last mode that I was in, ie Sat, ipod, tuner, or CD. There is no sound, and when I push the Audio button the menu comes up, however no matter what selection I make it just jumps back to where I was at all ready. If I turn the radio off and back on it does the same thing. If I turn the car off and back on it does the same thing. The only thing that fixes it is if I turn the car off, lock the doors and wait for it to go to sleep after about 10 minutes. Then when I get back in everything works.
Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks! -Jeff

Yes I had that problem twice in the last few months. Didn't need to wait 10 minutes though. Shutdown the car, remove the key, wait few seconds. Put the key in, wait for the radio to power up... that kinda worked.

I haven't had a SW update on the radio though, or was this fixed with an update. I searched, but I couldn't find anything with the exact issues I am having. Usually it was just a "Sat not working" issue. Thanks!

This is what I was thinking of but it deals with the radio not turning on. Unfortunately, That does not seem to be your problem. Sorry.

I had this problem today during my commute home. I stopped to pick up some takeout after being in the car for 1.5 hours. I got back in the car after ~10 minutes and there was no sound from the radio. I could select different modes, and the radio showed each station RDS, but no sound.
I don't recall if there a gong. I got home, shut off car and restarted and no change. I went inside and came out ~30 minutes later and the radio now has sound. There were a couple other dead end threads that described the same problem (i.e. radio "works" but no sound). Does anyone know if this has been resolved? |

Mine still does it on occasion, but it has probably been about 4-5 months since I have had an issue. The service department looks at me like I am an alien whenever I explain to them what is going on. Which oddly enough was the same look they would give me when I would ask them about anything.

I dont have a permanent fix. But, when this happens to me I found that when the car triggers an alarm the radio comes back on. When I notice my radio is not working, I just un hook my seatbelt. A few seconds later it gives me the alarm and the radio starts working. The first time I noticed this is when the car triggered a low fuel alarm. As soon as the alarm went off the radio started.

I have the same problem as you guys BUT the weird thing now (since the last week, before Christmas) is that I don't have any more sound (radio, cd, alarms, parking system, dongs, etc, etc), the radio appears to be ok (it turns on), but the bluetooth went off and can't make it work again and the parking alarm can't hear it.
All audio went off, all kinds of audio. Bluetooth module doesn't appear anymore in the screen. My guess is that maybe the MOST is not working or the logic 7 amp burned or something like that is interrupting the MOST network, what do you think about it? If you have any ideas could be great. |

I had this problem or a similar one a year or two ago. Unhooking and rehooking my seat belt would cause a loud noise and bring the radio sound back. MY SA found a service bulletin for it. Fixed with a software update.

Hi. Do you have any information regarding the service bulletin? My radio was experiencing similar on/off like others here. Except mine would come back on if I opened and closed the glove box. After experiencing this strange occurance several times over the past several months, now.. the volume will not come on at all. I get the stations, inputs, and the lights..just no sound. I had my BMW at Classic BMW in Plano Texas for the past few days over the weekend. Today, they told me that the amplifier is simply faulty and has gone out. They are happy to replace it for $1300. I called BMW Complaint Resolution, they said that the CPO Warrantly does not cover the AMP and that they will not help with the replacement either. From this post and others, it seems like it might be a software issue. Please help. Thank you!

Mine hasn't done this for months. The last time it did, I tried unbuckling my seatbelt and it worked. I would rather do that than pay $1300 for a fix that might work.

All I had to do was open my door for it to work. Once the gong came on, the radio turned on too.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. Nothing has worked so far. But, I noticed that I no longer hear any noises insdie the car. No gongs, no beeps, nothing. The Dealership could have completely unplugged the amp in hopes that I would authorize the $1300 repair??? Anyways, I am hoping that inbetween all my kids sports this week, that I can find the time and instructions on how to find the amp and see for myself. Thanks again!
