I ended up getting a tomtom XL-s for my new 135i. I will just use it on non-regular trips, the rest of the time it will sit in the glove compartment.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 360 for $249. We use it in our X3 and I'll be using it in the 135.

I think it's way, way overpriced - but I'd still go for it as I know I constantly be regretting it if I didn't. Having said that if it only did Nav, and didn't have the car setup features / MP3 display etc I'd pass.

Plus it's not like on VW's / Audis / older BMW's where it's relativly straight forward and cheaper to retrofit. The way it's all integrated in the dash and the whole IDrive controller thing, probably rules a retrofit out, or at least I'd imagine so.

If you have money to burn, then burn some more and get NAV.
A TOY option for yuppies to brag about. Hey, did you get the NAV?

If you travel ALOT, or get lost in your backyard, get NAV.

Money to burn? What about if the car is a business expense and you are getting 40-45% off because of tax savings? Is it worth it then?

if you're getting that kind of savings maybe you should be thinking about a 911tt...

Personally I don;t like I-drive so its not really worth it to me at any price.

Try living in Europe without it. Nav is essential here as traveling from point A to point B usually involves many A road changes and driving through unfamiliar cities can be a nightmare. Plus, having the system alert you to backed up traffic is great as that can occur frequently and very unexpectedly and massively hamper your progress. But I'd say spending $2,000 on $500 wheels is more in line with money to burn.
