guys, a forced induced Z is not an easy kill. I used to run 13.8@100mph all day long when I was stock. A turbo ed 350Z with the lowest boost (330whp) is a mid 12-sec car.
Another thing is that it becomes harder to launch it from the dig with the more power it gets. And bare in mind that this car been around for the past 6 years, so, you can imagine the number of aftermarket kits available and all the R&D involved.

Just to understand the capabilities of it's engine, the VQ35, check the 6-second runs done by some of the tuners running this engine on promods.

If he is going to mod his car then you should put a JB3 in your 135i and he will not be able to keep up with you.

I ran into a coworker at an SCCA event in his 50th Anniversary Corvette. I was running my Z4 and my time beat his time. He told me if he did some mods he could beat my time. One of the other guys in the discussion said if he (referring to me) was to mod his car it would still beat the Corvette. They also told the guy to put the mod money toward driving lessons and the Corvette would beat the Z4. So it really is up to the driver.

.
But the Z can also run higher boost. I upgraded my stock supercharger pulley and was able to pull on a stock C6 with me having 368whp.
So, as mentioned earlier, it depends on the sort of setup the cars are running :iono:

Do you think I would definately need JB3 or could I get away with JB1 or JB2 to beat him?
jb1 does very little. jb2 can't be really exploited on a v81 or 29.2 ecu. but on a pre29.2, you could got jb2hhr with race gas and probably win.

The Z is going to be the better drag car regardless of JB2 or other tunes. A lower boost turbo automatic Z is capable of low 12s all day. The VQ engine is more developed in the aftermarket and as other posters have pointed out they are capable of over 400rwhp.

Even if you do get a tune and produce similar power you are still going to be limited by the open differential in the BMW. Most of your power is going to be up in smoke, i doubt you will ever break into 11s with a single tire. If drag racing is your concern you are not starting from a very good platform.

Highway pulls are something else entirely (though illegal as well)

haha, alberto was one the guys who blew his engine with the single turbonetics.

he is an amazing drag racer. he was getting stock drag times which were like a half second faster than everyone else.

you've got to chill out on bashing the 135i.

here i found this post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=11

the 335i with dinan can beat a supercharged g35 from a dig or from a roll.

335i is a little heavier than a 135i and the g35 is a little heavier than the 350z, but both are essentially the same car.

also, lsd doesn't make a difference in a straight line, because there is equal traction on both wheels. lsd makes a difference in corners because one wheel has less traction and that wheel will get the power without the lsd. in a straight line, the power is distributed equally, and the 135i will lay down 2 equal lines of rubber.
