buying an 2009 128i MT with 42xxxkm

Hello 1Addicts,

I'm going to pickup a 2009 128i manual with only 42xxxkm tomorrow.
Previous owner is a lady who can't drive anymore and her daughter is selling the car cuz she can't drive manual.

Maintenance record is unclear, but from what I saw, its body and inside is very clean.
Problem is that it needs new pads and rotors on 4 corners and a new rear left abs sensor. (brake vibrates, probably a wrapped rotor?)

Yes I'll change it engine oil and flush the brake while installing new pads.
But I'm wondering if I should flush its coolant, trans, diff?

Any other issues I should lookout for this kind of "old" but low mileage car?

Thanks

I would do the oil, but not worry about the other fluids until you hit around 100,000km.

Also flush the brake fluid when you change the rotors and pads.

Check that the AC works! I recently had to get the evaporator replaced in mine, it's not cheap and a relatively known/common problem as the cars get older. Also, check for oil leaks from the oil filter housing gasket or the valve cover gasket (less common). Otherwise these cars are generally solid.

Good luck!

Fluids (other than engine oil) can wait until spring.

Congrats on your new purchase. Take it to the dealer and they will print out the car history. There have been several recent recalls on the car. The 128i is a strong car and quite reliable.
Welcome to the club.

Considerations:

Oil & Filter
Brake Fluid
Gearbox
Differential
Coolant
Power Steering Fluid
Battery
Pollen Filter / Cabin Filter

Any, all or none might be needed but I wanted to list them as things to consider.

I just did all of these to my 135i, it's only got 28,000 miles, very similar to yours in km, but it's been on the road for 9 years now so I felt it was time - you're hitting 10.

an update:

Got the car yesterday morning, since it was title as "stored" for more than a year, I have to go through an SAAQ approved mechanical inspection before officially hit the road.
I have put about 40km with a temporary plate. Steering feels heavy, but I guess it's normal (my expriences were with 94 integra, 09 mazda 6, 10 mazda3, 16 civic, 17 GLC, which all gave kinda light steering feel).

The bads:
- ABS light on: new sensor is on its way ( let's hope that reluctor ring is in good shape)
- brake vibration : wrapped rotor? I'll see when I get those wheel off.
- Driver window : it opens after reaching the top, I see there is a way to reset its position, I guess it should be a quick fix.
- Noise from rear: sounds like it needs a new rear lift bearing... (should I just replace the whole hub? that bearing seems to be hidden quiet deep and hard to get out)

In general, I'm loving it, averaging 9-10l/100km, it will eventually replace my civic as my daily
