BMW 1M Tuning http://www.youtube.com/user/OEtuning...12/hXet6bMtbjY The BMW 1 Series M Coupe, is the latest high-performance version of the BMW 1 Series to come out of BMW’s M-Division. Complete with an M-tuned, twin turbocharged version of the N54 engine, the 3.0 litre inline 6 cylinder, direct injection, powerplant boasts 335 hp (250 kW) at 5900 rpm and 332 lb·ft (450 N·m) torque from 1500-4500 rpm (with +369 lb·ft (500 N·m) overboost) from factory. We recently had the opportunity in New York to get some independant dyno results on a DynoJet dyno running 93 octane premium pump gas. The vehicle was made available through NY BMW specialists Camber Toe and the results from tuning were impressive. As seen on the DynoJet dyno using STD correction, peak figures were 325.41wHp & 355.93wTq factory stock, and 374.99wHp & 401.86wTq after tuning. Thanks for sharing. I bet OETuning was able to extract some nice numbers.
Please no one take this the wrong way and I am not trying to spread any drama, just trying to inform. Based off other threads I saw on other forums, I believe this car actually had an intake prior to getting tuned, so it's exactly accurate to call it "stock". In addition, the "Baseline" posted is RunFile_001.drf but it has been publicly posted that was the lowest run amongst the other baseline runs. If you search enough, you'll see that they were able to pull a 346.21whp and 382.70wtq in their fourth baseline run. That could also skew how one measures gains. Typically to have the most accurate comparisons of delta in power, you pick the highest of your baselines and the highest of your tuned results. Not the lowest baseline and potentially your best tuned run. Then finally in the text of their blog post as quoted, the peak figures they type out don't match the data depicted on the advertised graph. There may be some typographical errors, so I am in no way accusing OETuning of not being able to extract genuine power out of the 1M N54. I just want to raise awareness on how to analyze dynos and make sure we are all interpreting them fairly, accurately, and realistically. It would be great if OETuning can provide a graph of several baseline runs of a 100% stock car. Then do the same for the same care with their tune. I bet they'll be able to show nice gains without potential discrepancies or questioning.
