In addition to several performance maps which can be selected "on the fly" right from the drivers seat the JB4 includes a 100% stock bypass map, a valet mode, ethanol fuel (E85) support, progressive water/methanol injection support, racing fuel map, an auto tuning map that adjusts the JB4 mapping to your current climate, octane, vehicle condition, and modifications continuously, and for those interested an rpm by rpm user adjustable map. Other features include optional in dash gauges for boost and other engine parameters, a programmable shift light, on the fly adjustable torque limiting to aid with launches at the track, an optional 2STEP rev limiter & no lift shifting for manual transmission cars, an optional speed delimiter, and much more.

This one comes with the optional USB cable and the speed delimiter switch already wired it. Just plug and go! Installation is easy. All you have to do is access the box with the ECU in it (under the hood, passenger side, underneath the cowling), open the box, pull the ECU out, unplug the cables going into it, plug the cables into the JB4, plug the cables from the JB4 into the ECU, and you are good to go. The most difficult part is routing the accessory USB cable (included) into the inside of the car. I had it into the glove compartment. Use of the cable is not necessary, but it allows you to connect your laptop for a detailed view of what is going on and to make finite adjustments.

Don’t be alarmed with the “for competition only” that BMS has to put in its advertising material to satisfy EPA regulations. My 135i passed stringent Colorado emissions tests with JB4, even the catless downpipes. Note that one of the profiles within the JB4 (selectable at the dash) is to return to stock settings, should you ever want to. Bet you won’t!
