Not sure if you have enough power, etc.
But what I've learned about sliding these cars is we all tend to try and use the front to steer out of them. This is wrong. Most of us tend to loose track of where they are pointed.
Use the throttle to steer the car. Keep the wheels pointed where you want to go and you won't get lost.
Need to turn tighter, more throttle.
Turning too much back off throttle (don't let out fully).

Once you get the feel of it things turn amazing.
It's taken me all winter to learn on ice. I want to try on pavement this summer, RIP tires.

Not to get too philosophical but is it possible to have enough? It could always use a little more!

Just kidding. What you said all makes sense. I can’t wait for the next rainy track day to keep practicing.

Was going to say something similar to what iminhell1 is saying but these cars are pretty oagerish with the stock suspension. Sliding is much harder to control with body roll, you'd actually be better served with the slightest scandi flick into the corners where you can plan your path/apex better. Just powersliding out can result in uncomfortable weight transfers on the m-sport suspension. I miss drifting badly and find myself slowly getting my 1er to how my old drift car was set up, totally reasonable for a street car LOL. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun rowsdower work on smaller hand inputs and you'll be rockin

Just got my two tires (Bridgestone RE760 225/45-17) for the front wheels from TireRack. Once mounted, I'll have finally a square setup.

Nice. I'm still waiting for time away from work to do mine. Plan on doing OFHG, oil change, coolant change, and plugs and coils so I can establish a proper maintenance schedule.

The rear diff swap was a nice upgrade, but I can't wait to see how the 3 stage and BPC tune feel.

I wasn't necessarily trying to power slide, but it was fun when it happened. Thanks for the input on hand movements. It felt normal at the time but in watching the video now, clearly I was all over the place and even letting go of the wheel at some points. Definitely something I'll need to work on.

The car has Eibach springs, Koni yellows, Whiteline 2-piece RSFBs, camber plates and M3 front arms. You can carry a really good pace on the outside of the turns where the track is full of rubber, but the dry race line is polished smooth, so as soon as you hit that spot, you lose most traction. You can actually see it in the video where the car is turning, then just stops turning at a certain point and all 4 tires start to slide. That point is where the dry line swings out wide either for corner entry or exit.

Bridgestone Pole Position S04 staggered (205/225) on the stock wheels. I've actually been impressed with them, though I'm trying to burn them up and go to a square setup.

I've made some progress on tidying up the M3 steering rack. I cleaned the gunk off of the Al body and hit it with some Alodine 1201. Now I need to do something with the hard lines and give the two (three) of them a coat of gloss or semi-gloss clear. In between I'll get something fab'ed to replace the Servotronic servo.

You need to know when it's safe to do so but, letting go of the wheel isn't always a bad thing. Inertia will turn the wheels in the direction of the slide should you forget where they are pointing.

The Koni's are good but the response rate is a bit sluggish for track/sliding. With the power of the 128 you could go a bit stiffer before hitting traction issues on dry pavement. How noticeable was difference with the Whiteline kit and M3 arms for you? That center strip can be a huge PITA in wet, I haven't had much wet-track experience but any time it was wet I just default to slidy fun lol.

Yep let the wheel center itself to find your drift angle. As iminhell1 has been saying, steering with the throttle will do a world of difference for how much wheel input you need, and you'll naturally start cleaning up your movements as you use your hands less and less.

What are your plans for the servotronic replacement? Just completely blocking it off? I'm curious on the full process for this it's something I've been wanting to do.

That explains what I've been noticing; there's a whole heck of a lot of rolling-around when it goes sideways and it's extremely hard to do smooth transitions, except on the slickest (snowiest) of surfaces. They have good high-speed damping, but iffy low-speed damping (they ride nice over craggy pavement, but are rough over smooth pavement) The want for proper coil-overs is strong...

Are you talking about the subframe bushing inserts? If so, JUST GET REAL BUSHINGS. Just do it. Whiteline or Powerflex 2-piece are great, and I love my solid Condor Speed Shop units. M3 arms are awesome (talking about the fronts, BTW). Much sharper steering, a little less understeer, and (I think) they ride better.

The POWER of the 128

I made my car happy

Yesterday, on a whim, I googled "E85 near me" on the way home from work. I stopped and put 3 gallons in and filled the (empty) tank up with 93 octane. I'm running an MHD Stage 1 tune, so I remapped for 25% E85 right there at the pump, and continued on my way.

I gotta say, I'm impressed. I don't know if it's my imagination, but the car runs great, acceleration is incredible, it's just a significant improvement overall. My adaptive headlight woes have been bringing me down, and this just reminded me of how much I love my car. No real point to this, it's just what I did to the car yesterday.

Yes, I'm making a blanking plate that will incorporate the factory seals. It's not necessary, just me being OCD.

You...OCD??? I never would have guessed lol. I kid, I actually really appreciate when people go the extra mile on stuff like this. Details can make or break a build!

I’m still undecided on the grille thing. Right now, I’ve got the 335is style (original 135i chromed slats, performance black surround) grille installed, and I’m liking how it reads less like a black hole and ties in with the silver wheels. Here are all three styles, with the last one being my current choice. I've gone grille crazy!

I like the black and chrome grilles best. Same as 128i, 135is, and the 1M. Only the 135i doesn't come stock with the black and chrome grilles. A lot of people like the all black grilles. Nice we have choices.

Yeah, the black and chrome is a great choice, especially with your wonderful blue. With my somewhat odd Cashmere color, I sometimes feel like the chrome is a bit too much. Plus, I do like how the black surround hides the hood line a bit on lighter colors like mine.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't even know the 335is existed, and I recently discovered it had the black surround + chrome slats that I currently have installed (and black mirror caps like the 135is):

The POWER of the 128
That reminds me I need to start doing handling mods.. all I've done are the bushing inserts, B12 kit and camber pin.

After doing my friend's steering rack, and seeing how incredibly easy it is to do, I might do M3 rack + M3 arms all at once....

The rack is quite literally 2 bolts + disconnect steering shaft/PS lines, disconnect tierod ends and it falls out.
