last time at cayuga wasnt a great expierence for me. went there perfectly fine. came back with a busted up rear bumper, which shifted the hood and broke the hood latch, destroyed the custom gauge pod due to the force from behind.. lool but aside from that everything has been fixed.

fyi: Cayuga is considered a slow track.
also word to the wise if you don't get the times your looking for just practice, in my old set-up non-135 I dropped a full sec by practice and fidling with tire presures and cooling procedures. Don't worry about huge smoky burnouts at first just get use to the lights, then working on reaction times. And please drive around the water box if you aren't driving dedicated drag slick(no treads). Look forward to see some ones out, my car has retired from track till I pick up a 135i then the fun begins... again. |

Thanks for the tips Dread, although there is joking about running in the 11s, my initial expectations are low until I get a "handle" on running 1/4 miles. I do however want to get there sometime this summer as I plan of going to the track a couple of times a month as I continue to learn about my car and techniques. Your right, practice does make perfect.
I am curious to understand why Cayuga is considered a slow track.

I;m not sure why its consided a slow track altitude seems about right.
I perviously ran a s/c nissan sentra specv(for sale and no longer s/c) best I pulled at cayuga was 13.4. St.thomas was able to net me a 13.2. It might have been driver input but I did run a 1.6 60ft with a fwd on balding general exclaim uph, same situation at st.thomas. aybe it was fluke. Howver, many cars that should be pulling lower number tend to pull higher in at cayuga. It could come down to track prep, but never got a serious answer. Hopefuly I see you guys out there, I won't be in my car but encouraging my buddy on his newly upgraded 04 cobra pulley, pipes, tune 500/500. I told him once I get a 1 its game over even tho before all that jazz he pulled a 12.888 to my 13.469. I would love to see some sanctioned races and will be following this thread to see who goes out. best of luck and be safe cough cough pick the right lane |

an you also check the track in St Thomas, I been hearing the Cayuga track is slow because of the way it is set up, and St Thomas has done some repairs to there tracks. It anybe a little further but maybe worth it. Check it out: http://www.stthomasdragway.com/

We could then report our findings to the group here for a decision on our track day. Thoughts? Also, when are you guys getting meth installed? As Mike suggested we can plan our track day after that.

Count me in! Last time out I did pretty well at Cayuga with just 94 octane and street tires and 19 in. wheels. Hoping to break 11's with race gas and/or meth. Heres slip. 12.2 @ 112.

Update
Folks, I have been working with the Director of Racing at Cayuga on group pricing for renting the track for a full day. With 15 guys we can get the track for $1300 bucks for the day starting at 11:00am and ending at 4:00pm. This is non-holiday weekdays only, so we would have to book vacation days from work etc. I for one would be willing to do this. If we go this route it would mean that we could get a serious amount of runs in each without having to worry about lining up etc. The cost breakdown would include: - 2 prepped lanes with 60 feet of traction compound - Safety Man (required as we will have cars running under 14 seconds) - Safety Ambulance (required as we will have cars running under 14 seconds) The challenges with going this route will be to ensure that if you say you are in then you need to be in. This will end up being around $90 each and if people don't show then we have a situation where others are financing the no shows which can get unpleasant. If we want to go this route we would have to supply the track with a guest list up front. Additionally we will likely have to land on a day that makes sense for everyone. Anyway, I will leave it up to the group but this is another option for us. Getting stoked now!
