Type 162 18" out of stock europe?!

Yo,

I have an order for a 325i TiSilv, Comfort, Dynamic & Advantage plus.
and Type 162 18" wheel. The production date is set to week 33, wich is in 3.5 weeks, and delivery was suposed to be in mid sept. Today the salesman called me and told me that Type 162 as well as the 18" wheels for the M package are out of stock, and if I want Type 162 i have to wait until week 41 as production week.

This seems very wierd and it's strange i'd be alone with this problem?!
I'm trying to get Type 196 instead and he said he will make some calls on monday and see what he can do..

/K

I am sorry to hear that....

I really wanted the Style 195 Wheels, and if you were in the US I would offer to trade you my 162's if you ordered 195's. There are many sets of 162's for sale over here in the US, but I suppose that the shipping costs would not be worth it.

Good luck!

I've ordered the 162 wheels with a production week 32. My (really helpful) dealer has said there are no delays shown on his system, and he would have known by now. It seems strange that BMW would not have those wheels for such a long time.

Do you think he has missed them off the order, hence explaining the huge wait?

Hmm!

This is intressting, would be nice to know if someone else heard this problem with 18" wheels in europe, if not something wierd is going on.

Guess ill ask him on monday...and if he said he lied, ill cancel the order and order a new touring from another dealer...

162 Ellipsoid wheel shortage

Hi There

Just to confirm that there seems to be a problem regarding stock of these wheels. I have a build date for my touring week 36 and I have been informed by dealer that 162 wheels not available, but they are going a different route to try and get them for me.

Do you have any update kvark, as I'm feeling a bit nervous with a production week of 32?

Sorry on vaccation and playing golf more then surfing the net.

Anyhow i got my production date postponed 2 months due to missing wheels (ARRG) only good thing with this is i can add a hmm how you say it in english...trailer hook? Done some research about adding one in the aftermarket, and they all tell me it cost more then the original bmw hook, insane! (The bmw thing is a button in the trunk and invisible unless you use it, aftermarket solutions are either detechable or permantent and ruins the look of the car!)

My dealer has just informed me of a delay on the 18" wheels on all new 3 series touring models sports and SE but no delays on saloons.

My car was ordered in June for delivery to a German dealership.
It's scheduled for week 36 production (will include software updates) for delivery on September 9th.
I've had no problems with any 162 shortage on the saloon.

As I reported in my facory tour post, the factory here in South Africa has tons of Type 162 wheels and there were a number of cars being fitted with them

Though we do make most of the wheel types here that our factory needs
