Only Making 1000 for US? Scott?

I was under the impression that BMW would not be limiting the number of units for the US. However, insideline claims that BMW will only be bringing 1000 to the US. Can anyone clarify?

Scott?

Well, if they are limiting the number of these available, then most dealers will mark the cars up, meaning this "affordable" M becomes much less appealing. I was hoping to get one at MSRP worst case...Hopefully these reports of limited allocations are incorrect..

Pretty well informed comments here say 100 cars for Australia.

And 2800 world wide...

interesting..

I want one though, so i'll have to figure out the best way to go about this. Putting a deposit down at the dealer now would pretty much ensure that I get screwed on the deal. Then again, this isn't looking like a car dealers will be willing to make deals for anytime soon..

I doubt a test drive is in my future either. I can see a locked car in the showroom floor with a very nice mark up for the dealer.

Glad I bought my E85 M Roadster when I did. $14K off MSRP. Deal of a lifetime and I love the car more every day.

that would have been a huge marketing campaign for only 1000 cars in the US. hope this isn't true

Remember the US isn't the only place in the world on this marketing circus trip, there has been some German, Swiss, UK, South American, Canadians, Australian as well as you guys in the States.

Pretty low budget really IMO, a sneaky 1 minute vid, internet forum spam and a few guys flying to Germany for a day

Yeah i guess you're right. I guess I just don't want to accept a limited production run. I would be really bummed if they only brought 1000 units to the US. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they don't limit the production

It is not a limited number car, just limited life span.

I'd like to believe that, but all the publications are saying otherwise.

Autocar, AutoExpress, say
BMW will only be selling 450 RHD 1-Series M Coupés in the UK, with the order books opening in January and the first customer deliveries in May.

Steved (another tread/post) confirms 1000 to the USA.

$hit!

Yes European Delivery should be available for the 1M. I was told by a reliable CA (Irv Robinson) it would be able to be picked up after April 15th. I have no idea on pricing for European Delivery or if it will count against a Dealership's allocations.
