Sure, but that's the BMW tax; they charge outrageous parts prices because they CAN.

Aftermarket should be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Remember, brake pads are not exotic rocket science, and $275 is still out of control in my book...

Well I figured $200 was a bargain compared to spending minimum 15 minutes a week cleaning the dust off my wheels.

On previous cars, I never spent even one minute cleaning the wheels.

^ I find that after ~3700 miles, the dust factor has significantly decreased for me. I usually wash the car once a week and that seems to be enough to keep it from being truly unsightly as it would get for the first couple thousand on the pads.

The thing that bothers me is the crazy initial bite and the lack of modulation that goes with it...

Yeah I disliked so much initial bite too. I thought I'd get used to it, but when I switched to CCs around 7500 miles, I was so relieved about not having to adjust for it anymore.

Exactly the main reason I got these pads. The added benefit that they dust less is a big bonus. Plus the color of the dust is lighter and matchs my Ti Gunmetal CS7 wheels very well. I spend less time cleaning the wheels, the performance and feel is better, so I jumped on the $200 a set deal.

It really isn't as bad as I thought. It's just going from stock pads that have 20% braking at the tap of the pedal to normal pads, you feel an illusion that the pads arent braking. It's just an illusion and I got used to them very quickly, because this is how a normal car should be. Linear braking force vs. applied pressure, not a stepwise function

90% of the reason I got the pads anyway was because the dust was starting to aggrivate me, my entire car was covered in dust after long trips. It's worth the money for the dust alone.

I finally got a chance to try these at an HPDE at NJMP Lightning, and they performed well, and I didn't notice any fade. Then again, I'm not overly aggressive, but do try to brake as late and as hard as I can. (After watching my vids back, I think I was braking a little TOO hard for a couple of corners. I'm such a noob, LOL!) They do seem to work better once they warm up a little bit, but to tell the truth, the lack of initial bite on the street was starting to annoy me, just a little. Then I drove a Chevy Avalanche and realized my brakes are still way better than most of these behemoth SUV's on the road

BTW, the dust from these pads is nothing. The dust from the oems took alot more to wash off. I washed my car 2 weeks ago, the buildup of whatever dust there was just washed away with a pressure washer I used tonight, no scrubing, its all gone. Def a difference there

You guys are are talking me around, and $200 is certainly more palatable than $275, but I'm still balking at the tag... What other aftermarket pad options are there for the 135? Anyone tried anything else suitable for the street?

Theres the hawks, but supposedly I read on another thread that the hawk pads are not made specific to the size of the oem pads and that they tend to slide or jerk however it is when releasing the brake at a stop after hard braking. That would not be ideal for me, i want pads that are made specifically for my car at the right size, hence the CC's

I think he meant besides stock pads and Cool Carbons is there any thing similar to CCs but cheaper. I don't think so, since there is not much support for these "one off" brake calipers. If there were I would have checked them out. So far the CC are an exact OEM fit without the bad attributes of stock pads. It's a personal taste though. Enough said.

I think you missed the irony and the humor of this statement. If you read the details of Bradford's posts in this thread you will have a big laugh. He has made it clear why would anyone pay extra bucks to replace perfectly good brake pads and loose the free replacement opportunities. He has a valid point on face value and I can see that. But I hate the stock OEM pads and this has been beaten to death in this thread on why we replaced them.

Just like I hate the stock RFTs. My best buddy who races cars said I am crazy for replacing perfectly good new tires. I think most here understand why RFTs must go. He does not, but then he is a real cheapscape. Different strokes for different folks.

If only BMW made a car with an oil dipstick, had a rear trunk key, had a cig lighter, or already pre-wired for alarm/SAT radio, or had real twin turbos, or oil/filter change requirements every 7.5k, or had a real spare tire vs RFTs or ...
