Reloaded MHD personalization. More options than I recall from last time. Linear throttle mapping wasn’t nearly as noticeable as I expected, but I’m going to keep it. Set pops and burbles on “medium” for 1.2 seconds. Pretty much freaked out my teenage daughters! They don’t like the 4th of July coming out of my muffler. Frankly, in normal driving, neither do I. But I need just a tad more than stock. So I set it to “soft “ for .9 seconds over 3000 rpm. Will see how that goes!

Weren't you going to get a smog test not too long ago or was that somebody else? Wondering how it went?

Oh, yeah!
Shop was iffy on the charge pipe, but let it slide. Was fine with axle-back and K&N drop-in. Said all was good, but couldn’t get a history of codes so had to come back after ~120 miles driven. Battery went low 2 weeks prior (dropped top and played music for a graduation parade without firing it up) so could have been that, but was probably due to flashing back to stock.

Immediately after test (next startup) SES light came on! (Intake pressure readings were off.)

Air box looked loose. What was he messing with?
Changed the oil, cleaned the air filter, and tightened down the charge pipe clamp.
Light went away- I didn’t even have to clear it.

Drove 200ish miles over about 2 weeks.
Took it back in, passed no problem.

Flashed to Stage 1+ a couple days later. Oops.

After some spirited driving...
Have decided to try an address cooling...
Have read as much as i can and know either and oil cooler or csf radiator is the best option...
(Besides upgrading the fan I believe)

I don't track my car(i know what your saying "what's the point")...
But i just want my car to run the way I like it...
During some runs my oil temp was 245-250 Fahrenheit...
I think i read that this is considered normal but i would rather it ran maybe around a consistent 225-230...

I do plan on upgrading my turbos in the near future so i know cooling is going to play a big part in keeping things running well...

Was planing on addressing each item(oil cooler, radiator, fan) one at a time but don't know which direction to go in first...
I don't even know if any or all of them are needed, I heard water wetter might be a good option....

Before I go spending money, was wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction so I can research and make a proper decision.

I have a CSF Oil Cooler coming in tomorrow, can report updates once installed. What cooling issues are you chasing? I have none, Im just installing as an upgrade.

Has anyone retrofitted a Rear view mirror with Homelink from an F8X chassis? Or does it need to be from an E9X? My shop guys have access to a couple F8X and I can get the rearview mirror off one easily.

No necessarily having any cooling issues...
Have MHD stage 2+...
So my car is running hotter...
Hotter than I would like...
But no limp mode or anything...
I just want things cooler...

Would appreciate your analysis...

My biggest “devils advocate” question to all of these oil coolers is:

Whil accepting that running cooler = good, what benefits do you think you’ll gain by doing it? 250F is more than fine for any respectable oil so does keeping it at 235 truly gain you anything?

Running cooler is not necessarily better.

Slightly bigger oil cooler is all you need and that's if tracking. CSF radiator has been shown to hamper warm up times which is bad bad bad.

A little bit late, but yesterday I managed to trim the bracket & mounted it to the car. I'm happy with the outcome.

Ill let you know, Im running Dinan Turbo which is similar to a Pure Stage 1..

Car has been up there temp wise but haven't pushed back to back, I do want to take on autocross to see how it behaves.

Hadn't read about CSF slowing down time getting into temp doesn't worry me, anyone with correct mind set will just avoid getting into the gas hard until it reaches temperature.

Thanks for this...
Will do some research on an oil cooler...
May purchase, may not...
If 250F is good, then I may just continue to monitor until turbo upgrade...
Will see!

What is your take on water wetter?

Over the weekend I stitched on the eastdetailing.com perforated leather with red center stripe steering wheel cover.

Once you get the hang of it stitching isn’t too hard.

A couple of tools that I would recommend are a set of dental picks, like they sell at Harbor freight, these allow you to tension the individual threads instead of trying to use your fat fingers.

More pictures in the album. If you have a plastic sport wheels I highly recommend this.

The engine and all of its internal mechanical tolerances are designed for the temperatures it's running at as stock. There is more than enough cooling in the stock system to handle even spirited street driving (they're designed to be storming down the Autobahn at sustained high speeds).

And please...stop...dropping...ellipsis...everywhere.. ..................

Clay barred and CQuartz’ed all painted surfaces and windshields. It took a little getting used to but overall am extremely impressed. I gotta do a final sealing coat tomorrow morning. In hind sight, I kinda wish I did a better job polishing the rear quarter panels but I couldn’t convince myself to spend another day on it. I got it during one of the AutoGeeks 25% off sales with another batch of Leatherique.

Pics to come tomorrow.
