Installed jb4 and windows/ turn signals wont work?
2010 135i
I unplugged the negative battery terminal. Then I installed the jb4. I plugged the negative terminal back on and the car turned on no problem but the windows/ turn signals/ high beam dont work at all. Is there a reset im missing or did i fuck up? |

May have fried the FRM module. Try unplugging the battery again for 10 min. If that doesn’t work and you don’t have access to ista then I think your car should have something like 10 year 120k coverage on the FRM from bmw... since your 2010 you may or may not still be covered depending on your original delivery date. Try calling the dealer and talking to a service advisor to find out.

correct procedure
1> switch of car, if CA take key put it away wait for car to go to sleep 2> wait for LED in gear shift to go out or lights (usually 20-30 mins) 3> pull neg optional (what I do) 4> put headlight switch to on 5> connect battery clear codes usually if the FRM gets fried Ista wont bring it back |

@nate, the headlights thing is probably not a solid, I saw it on a forum somewhere, But I do it anyway for safety. Something about putting the lights on kills any residual current floating around, especially in the FRM module, could be an old wives tale.
But waiting for sleep mode is not, another reason you jump the car from the engine and not the battery... I've done it a few times and got lucky, but from what your saying you've fried the FRM, and a new one or 2nd hand needs the VIN programmed into it, by winkpf... def if your going to be doing work on your BMW, any serious work, get the proper suite of programs and a battery tender BTW....SORRY it should be: 1> switch of car, if CA take key put it away wait for car to go to sleep 2> wait for LED in gear shift to go out or lights (usually 20-30 mins) optional (what I do) 3> put headlight switch to on for a brief 15-30 seconds 4> put headlights off 5> pull neg do work 6> connect battery 7>clear codes |

I don't know your area but you have 2 options, well 3
1> Dealer 2> Indy 3> Bimmergeeks (I think) can do remote programming, I think all you need is the cable and the software, they RDP into your laptop and run the code, I think it's quite reasonble of the 3 options.. I think they probably dont need you to have the software but you do need the cable <Scratch that bimmergeeks dont> below are a few weblinks, not tried https://www.codemybimmer.ca/product/...ing-us-canada/ https://www.bimmer-tech.net/ https://topgearsolutions.com/bmw/bmw...ding-services/ I've heard good things about bimmer-tech |
