Oily fitting on AC Line?

Anyone else experienced this described below?

(For reference, 09 128i with 119k currently)

My AC was pretty weak early last summer, so I brought it to a good shop for a recharge. Was fine for the rest of the year, and seemed okay early this year as well.
It rapidly declined over the course of this summer despite very light use, and as of yesterday it blows hot air only. (Checked the compressor, it's still kicking on).

Feared it's the evaporator coil in the dash, as I've heard this is a common (and expensive) failure point particularly for pre-2010 cars.

However, I did notice this fitting in the lower front driver's side of the engine bay. Possible indicator of a leak?

Also, if it matters, I was not experiencing any odd smells in the cabin nor oily residue on the inside of the windshield. I heard these may be symptoms of a bad evaporator coil.

Darn. Wishful thinking for an easy fix maybe.
