I'm assuming because if rear seat space is that big a deal for you, you probably are not in the market for the 1.

You should have the dealer check into this. As soon as I start the car, the idrive navi screen pops open. No lag at all with it or changing radio stations.

Really? My screen pops open immediately, but pressing the soft keys to change stations (or whatever you have them programmed to do) doesn't work for at least a few seconds.

I'll have to check this again.

This thread will be fun as you have opened it up to a group that suffers from 'extreme' defensiveness of their purchasing decisions. LOL

My 2 biggest gripes: Suspension and curb weight. Not a big deal. PSS9 should solve the suspension set-up. Curb weight is a little tougher to address without pulling the car apart to drop 300lbs.

it's not that, I just wonder how someone can purchase a small car & then in turn complain, that it is in fact, small. Thats like buying a convertible & then complaining that too much sun gets in

this I agree with, seems like it should be lighter.

So, what you experienced was a car that had the setting disabled.
Either way for a full turn it would operate normally when pushed past the resistance point.
it can be set to 1 blink also.

Hmm, I would have to say that the car can seem a bit Floaty/unsettling during hard cornering.

And then How bout the messy welding in spots . Anyone notice inside their trunk up by the rear window? And also the Rear Fenders right by the wheel well. Lots of undercoating or non sanded paint there. I've noticed these on all the 1ers. Had to make sure mine wasn't touched up. Okay these are very small minute things that 99.9% of the owners will never even notice

I agree about the reach for your seatbelt.

The car seems to attract internet trolls who come to this site and other ones for the sole purpose of belittling our decision process.

But I can on an S2000
Not being able to fit with a helmet? That one is a stretch for someone who drives a 911.

I am not a tall person 5'11'' and I have more room in this car then in my sunroof/headliner delete, Sparco equipped 911.

I can't imagine anyone but a very short person tracking an S2000 unless you have an aftermarket roll bar, of course the same thing applies to the Z4. At Friday at the track, some drivers invariably have their top down and their helmets will be sticking about three inches above the roll bar.

I see that I am getting defensive.

Those complaining about the RFTs--are they really that big of a deal? Because in 17 mionths of E92 ownership, I did not think they were that bad.

Sure, they are noisy. Sure, they don't perform as well. But they are also safer--no blow outs with these bad boys. And if you really think it is that big of a deal, you could a) get some regular tires and take your chances or b) drive a different car! BMW has been doing RFTs for a while now--this is not news people.

In all seriousness, I like knowing I can smoke a pothole and not have to worry about an exploding tire immediately afterwards. I can definately live with the RFTs.....

Have you been tracking the dealers in Chicagoland? Are there many 135's on lots yet?

you really can't complain about the rear legroom - thats exactly what the E9X is for. although that brings up my perhaps single gripe, the interior is definitely a let down compared to the three series, boring (and i'm not too familiar with current luxury vehicle offerings but the plastics definitely feel cheaper than i would have expected out of an almighty BMW). my only other complaint is that the 128 is not a well-optioned, well-priced, well-positioned offer. i would at least like better fuel economy.

other than that it's the deal of the century.

Actually the interior is nearly identical in the E82 as what was in my E92. The one major difference, and its a good one, is that the console area is more driver-centered. Not nearly as "flat" across as the 3. Very nice IMO.

And if you want nicely optioned on the lower of the two models in a line, I suggest you stay away from BMW. The base 1, 3, etc. all have less than their well-optioned brothers. That's the point--you want all that shit? You are gonna pay for it. The higher price is for the DRIVE. Not nav and similar crap.

Same thing with gas mileage--you want good MPG? Get a Japanese 4 banger. Or a diesel. Not an inline 6 pumping 230 or 300 HP and lugging around 3400 lbs....

did i offend you when i said "almighty bmw" or something?

yes i've driven a 3 series too, in my opinion the dash is more interesting. there are very subtle differences but there seems to be a slight bit more going on, more contrast at least. although the e82 is certainly more driver focused, it is just not as visually appealing to me, and also less than the E46, but that is 100% subjective.

and i somewhat misspoke, i dont mean options (i could completely care less about nav, comfort access, xenons) i just mean that they did a bad job positioning the 128 as a well-balanced alternative (although i would have to suppose it was intentional, perhaps to get more 1ers on the road as 135s - and i will admit, again, a lot is based on subjective aesthetic preference). for the couple thousand dollars you save you lose greatly improved aero kit, much more attractive and larger wheels and a huge amount of performance in brakes and engine (not to mention steering wheel) given that, i cannot understand why anyone would buy a 128 given such a small price difference (im essentially suggesting the 128 should be cheaper, i suppose, at least thats the only way it would be worth it) ..and i think the one area they could have compensated would have been in fuel economy. which is, again, completely subjective as its something i care a lot about. your results may vary. i like the 128, it has enough power for me, its all i need, but i'd be dumb to buy it, and that's not how that should work.

i suppose i'm weighing too much on aesthetics to create and argument, but, check the screen name.

I do. Noticed it @ ~ 100 mph. Made me a bit uneasy but I'm sure the suspension bits, different wheels and cf spoiler I'm going to add will solve this.
