I've had mine since mid-January and my avg MPG is only 15.5. But I blame my commute.....13 miles one way over the hollywood hills. I'm sure it would be better if I had a level commute. I've also not taken it on any long freeway trips yet.

Indeed, Arizona roads aren't good for fuel economy. My daily drive to work consists of 8 stop lights over 3 miles, multiple turns, and not a single speed limit over 35.

Needless to say, only now that the temperature are warming up significantly is my car even getting warmed up before I get to work.

My gas mileage with all of that stop and go driving is 16-17 MPG, depending on how many stop lights I get.

It's pretty bad. My tuned STI got better gas mileage, and I was constantly in boost when I drove that thing.

Highways I only see around 26
MPG. 91 octane FTL.

When I used to do 85% highway & 15% city, I did like anywhere from 23 to 25ish but I'm not sure anymore. I do 90% city now

I've only had mine for two weeks, and my driving has been mostly city, but I'm only averaging about 16mpg.
Then again, it probably doesn't help that I drive around in second gear everywhere and am constantly seeing how fast I can reach 4200 RPM ;-)

two weeks...how fast to 4200? Did you already break your car in (1000-1200 miles)?

2nd tank of gas and I only got 22.4 mpg for the tank. That is a combination of town and highway and with 93 octane. About what I expected. After break in is over I will probably be getting in the high teens for a couple of tanks.

2012 135i, 1800mi, 90% city driving and always heavy on the pedal; 17mpg. However, I get 31 mpg on the 2 miles of interstate I drive.

So far, my wife's 2011 128i Convertible with 6MT is averaging 24mpg in mixed daily commuting. On longer trips we've seen it go above 26. It's still probably not quite fully broken in, but we should be able to get upper 20s on the road with it.

I'm still breaking it in, which is why I am trying to keep it under around 4200RPM (what my dealer recommended). Mostly city driving and haven't had it above 85MPH
yet. Can't wait to fully unwind her.

I have a 6MT and have been experimenting with various shifting points watching the MPG computer read out. For best mileage, shift at no higher than 2 grand and get up to higher gears with alacrity, meaning don't be heavy footed but don't dawdle either. 1st gear is just awful for mileage. Even in stop light to stop light traffic try to get to the highest gear you can staying under 2 grand on the tach as much as possible. Don't do sustained 2 grand in lower gears. When you hit 2 grand shift up again. On my next fill up I'm going to try driving like this for an entire tank around town and see what I get. I've got to be able to do better than 14.8.

Fuelly is reporting my milage in my signature. Car is reporting 23.5-23.7. Mixed highway/city driving. Interestingly enough, after the install of my downpipes, the fuel milage went up by about 1.5mpg

70/30 highway/city i get 22.5 - 23.8 while driving spirited most of the time if i just drive normally without WOT i usually get 24.5 - 25.8 previously i could get about ~26.4 but about 6 months now my mpg has dropped.
Freeway or long trips I able to get 27-29 , while the highest read out I was able to get was 33 mpg right after filling the tank and resetting the gauge ( this was my attempt of hyper-miling after reading about it online didn't last to long though)

I only put 93 octane in mine.

Highway - 31 @ 70~75 mph

City - 18~16 @ 40 mph stop and go all the way to work (15 minute commute) with the occasional WOT and aggressive driving depending on the work day.

Country - 37 @ 50 mph

I used to get around 30-32 mpg when i lived in Germany. I could drive around 80 mph to and from work. It was awesome, and i was using around 94 octane gas.. Also, keep in mind my commute had round-a-bouts which are awesome. I didnt have a single stop my entire way to and from work. ..

Now that im here in Sucky Cali, my small town i live in has built 2 extra stop lights since i moved here 5 months ago for a total of 7 for my commute. I have to used 91 octane, and obey boringlly slow speed limits, so sadly my gas mileage has dwindled down to 22.3 according to my car, and around 21 mpg avg on my iphone calculator when i fill her up...

Its a pain especially since gas prices have been going up.
