Easiest way to do it is either have someone start the car for you or I just used my iPhone hit record and walked over and started the car... One thing I have noticed with both the V3's and V4's is that they only flicker when the headlights are set on auto and the HID's do not turn on... if the HID's do turn on they don't flicker...

I had someone look at the lights as I started the car. Tonight I will look and have my wife start it. I always keep lights on auto.
P.S. why does it matter that they flicker on for a second?

It just drives me nuts when I see it doing it... I mean furthermore they were advertised that they do not so they shouldn't no?

Just checked them out and they do not flicker. They work just like they were advertised. Maybe you have a loose connection? Just a thought...

Checked the connections like 6 times they're def not loose as they clicked. You checked it in the day light right like my vid where the hid's didn't turn on?

No, sorry I thought you wanted me to check at night. I did check in daylight before but again I started car and someone else looked. Will do it tomorrow and let you know. If it only happens during day how do you notice it?

Ahhhhh no worries... Usually when I'm parked at work I can see it flickering like a mofo!

What i meant by that comment is that i have not personally installed these in a 1-series, so sorry that you might have misunderstood that.

As for the flickering, i dont have an answer yet as to why it would be doing this on 1 car and not another. We are looking into it to see if different cars use a different startup sequence, and that might be the reasoning

Hey Marc,
I sent you an e-mail inquiring as to what my options are here as I'm a bit disappointed to say the least as on the LUX website it specifically states "No flickering on Self Check Sequence" which is one of the major reasons why I decided to upgrade from the V3's...

Installed the V4's on my 2012 and they look great. Money well spent.

No flickering issues at all, by the way. They power on and off smoothly.

I did have some trouble finding the best spot to mount the control box inside the headlight housing. Here is a post that illustrates the best spot to stick the control box without getting in the way of your adaptive headlights. I suggest using double sided tape or those velcro-like fasteners for hanging picture frames (specifically the outdoor grade fasteners).
