I think I'm going to try this approach

46 here, the 135is gets 2nd car duty and is typically used for weekend back road jaunts and will hit an occasional HPDE in the future. I'll try to get one or two long drives a year

The long term plan is to pay it off asap and keep it a good long time.

Truer words have never been spoken!

I will say though, being from the north, I get a lot of weird looks when I have both windows all the way down when its 40°.

If only I had PE to make it that much better.

65. The 128i M-Sport cabio 6MT with PE is my wife's car (she's 55), but I helped her choose its options, colors, etc. We both enjoy driving it with the top down or up. She has a 15-minute commute to work on back roads and a few miles on an interstate. We're both very active in our BMW CCA chapter and lead and participate in chapter events. Our F30 335i M-Sport 8AT with MPPK and MPE doesn't have to commute (I work from home), but we drive it frequently on out-of-town trips and locally at every opportunity.

I'm 55 and this is my 3rd BMW. I had a 320i in 1980, a 2000 Z3 2.8 and now my 128. 50K and still can't drive it enuff. I bought it with 17K CPO.

Unfortunately it will probably be my last BMW now that the 6 is gone and the electric steering is on the new cars. I've had 2013 loaners... hated them!

70 here and still like a little grunt when its time to go. Have been a track guy for many years with Porsches but due to spinal issues that had to stop so I went with a 135i for fun factor. Mods so far are stage 2 Dinan software upgrade and Dinan exhaust. In future will do cold air intake and maybe suspension. Also went with Alufelgen rims and got rid of run flats. She is a garage queen except for pretty weekends!

42. This 128i is my first BMW and I intend to keep it for as long as possible. It is my daily driver and is everything I've wanted it to be. Small, powerful, manual transmission, fun yet refined, and it has a backseat for the babyseat on the rare occasion the baby isn't in my wife's Jetta Sportwagen TDI. (We're all in on German engineering.) I also really like driving something that almost no one in my area has. I can't imagine driving anything else at this point in my life.

33 here, got my used SGM 135 about 2 1/2 years ago. I drive it about 40 miles a day through Boston traffic most of the year, though it gets garaged on the worst snow days. I love modding cars and probably always will. I'll probably keep the 1'er for a few more years until my wife's car is paid off, then it'll be an E92 M3.

26. First BMW. Previous cars were 91 Mustang GT and 2001 Mustang Bullitt. Couldn't be happier with the 1.

Though a thread similar to this was probably around before, I've enjoyed learning a little about various 1 owners. There seems to be a wide range of ages, and more "old farts" like me ; )

I drove a 128 auto at the dealer, and ended up ordering sticks, twice. Will do it as long as the knees are OK with it. I understand an auto if one's driving includes a lot of stop and go, though.

Might consider an M235i a couple of years down the road. By then, I'll have a good idea of what that car is about.

Ummm, I'm below 18. I take a bus every morning to the nearby school.

Taking a delivery of a 2012 135 very soon + have had a diesel 6MT E91 for four years. Me and my dad have always wanted a proper BMW, it's no E46 M3 which I would kill for but needed a pretty small and fun RWD car that could be a good daily driver too. I'm a huge car enthusiast and I have no one in my life that I could talk to about cars.

We need old farts to keep us young punks in line.

I wish I took a little more time to find a manual. The clutch on my old Rsx-s was ridiculously stiff between the 23mm master cylinder & 6 puck my ankle began clicking when I would depress the pedal and would start to hurt after a while, which made me think I would be OK with an auto.

I now beat myself up about it every day. I want my clicking ankle back.

I'm 43. My 128i is my very first BMW, and I ordered it to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. My commute is about 8 miles to work each day. I previously owned Honda's for the most part, but they pretty much abandoned the enthusiast, so I jumped ship. With the direction BMW is going (no turbos for me), this might be my last BMW as well, and I plan on driving my 128i for several years. Will eventually start modding it...

43, commute maybe 5 miles a day. 8th BMW and I regret selling at least 2 of them. The 135 is a keeper and will be turned into a purpose built track car once I roll into a M235 in a couple of years.

32. The 135i is my first BMW. I previously owned a 2005 G35 coupe for 5 years. I traded it in for a 2011 Audi S4 b/c I always loved them. I had it for 4 months and someone t-boned me. It was totaled. I never even looked at BMW. I watched that episode of Top Gear where they tested the 1M and started doing more reading up on the 1 series. I found a CPO 2010 135i 6MT base with the M Sport package about 3 hours from where I live. I test drove it once and fell in love with it.

I only commute about 5 miles each way for work, but on the weekends I find myself driving in the hill country all the time.

The Cobb tune and the FMIC really woke the car up. I love that I have 90% of what the 1M is for half the price.

I'm 65 and my 2012 135i is my fourth BMW and second 135i. Based on the Honda/Audi clone 4 and 2 series, this is most likely my last BMW. Would love a Cayman, but can't justify one. Might be time to un-retire to buy the Cayman.
