Need some help with the MHD e-series orange wifi adapter... I'm pretty disappointed with it so far. Today is the second time I've used it since my wife got it for me for Christmas. Both times it has taken forever to connect to my phone. It will say it's a full signal, I go to connect, it will get stuck on obtaining IP address, then it will restart the process on its own. After about 5-10 minutes, it will finally connect with only a weak, 1 bar signal. When I drive around to monitor and log, the connection is continually lost, and I have to reconnect and deal with the whole 5-10 process all over again! This is really frustrating. Is there something I need to do in the settings of the app or my phone? Also, is there anyway to secure the connection since it seems to be a public wifi signal? The adapter didn't come with any instructions, so I figured it was as simple as plug the adapter into car, connect to phone, and enjoy wireless logging and flashing... At this point, I have absolutely zero confidence in flashing with this adapter.

That blows.

It looks like they have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.

Going back to v1.6 would fix our problems but they ignore the question each time I ask

Just got my intercooler in and after reading this I'm debating on installing it and going 2+ with the throttle issue. Is it all n55 cars or just late e series?

Appears to be late e-series only.

I will say the response so far has been disappointing; even just an acknowledgement of the ongoing problem and a periodic status update would go a long way such that we at least know they're still working on the problem.

Can say that I'm personally disappointed that I purchased 200$+ of MHD stuff in late November and basically have not been able to use it so far after realizing that it was the cause of the throttle surge I was seeing.

Is there a way to adjust the idle rpm in the current v1.7 app? I looked but didnít see anything. Am I missing it?

Yes, it's right before the actual flashing process in the same area when you select burble, oil cooler settings, and what not. If my memory serves me right its towards the bottom of the menu.

Hello,

For the random throttle spiking issue. It seems like its only late E series for the most part. I've sent fixes out individually for about 10 people. a couple of the cars report no improvement while the rest report the issue is completely gone.

So just because we haven't posted here doesn't mean its not being worked. Seems like some peoples cars just dont do well with Valvetronic adjustments while the majority do just fine and the car responds as intended. I've even tested a couple cars with all stock VT and Vanos and it still had some sort of idling issue. which is probably a vac leak or something thats just exasperated by the VT and Vanos changes on the current OTS maps.

Its not easy fixing issues when only a handful of people have the issue and the fix works on some and some it doesnt and even on stock its still there.

These tunes are made on my car, and 90% of the issues seen on other peoples cars have never been seen or experienced on mine. So thats another level of difficulty in fixing an issue that cant be replicated in house.

Anyway, for now, we'll push the current fix i have. Since it worked on the majority of users and worry about the stragglers as they come and see if something else can work for them.

Justin, I did the OBD unlock thanksgiving weekend but Iíve been running JB4 BEF because Iíve been waiting for a solution to the spike problem. FYI, and I know this is on Burger, not you, even the BEF has spikes and Iíve been trying to tune it out nonstop since the unlock. From what Iíve seen it seems like the pre-boost is too aggressive and twitchy.

Anyway, Iíd like to go OTS now but Iíd like to have the flash fix on hand in case I have one of the problem cars. Something tells me I do.

Iím also able to get to your shop if you need a 2012 135i to tinker with.

Was my car one of the ones that it didn't work on?

I wonder if there could be a check box to disable the feature that is causing the issue.

What is the status

What is the status right now on tuning n55 engines? I am in the market and have come across a 2012 135i and am trying to decide if I should hold off and just find an n54. I like the functionality and ease of access for MHD but I am having my reservations after coming across this thread. Are the throttle issues prominent enough for me to steer clear from MHD? Should I just do a JB4 tune instead? If you were tuning your 135i for the first time right now, what would you use? (I know this is an MHD thread but I wanted to hear from actual MHD users)

I wouldn't let MHD push you from an N55 to N54. There are other options, JB4, custom, Dinan, etc. At least on my car, the latest MHD maps (other than Stage 0) makes the car virtually undriveable. I really hope it gets fixed soon.

I've got a 5/2012 135i and I ran JB4 for 4.5 years until OBD unlock became available last fall. I run JB4 BEF so I'm not feeling the pain the OTS guys are but that's because JB4 allows me to tame the poor behavior from the flash. Once the tuning tables get sorted and late e cars start running smoothly then I'll switch to OTS and probably get a custom tune.

JB4 by itself with a PS1 was OK but adding the BEF through MHD has made it much better. Still, not the rock solid performance I'm looking for but I'm back in the waiting game.

I've got a 2011 running just MHD, Stage 2 (throttle linear mapping off) and it's not bad at all. No complaints.
