Charge Pipe Finally Failed

After 5 years and 33k miles, my charge pipe finally failed. From my experience, this is the most common failure point. Good thing I had the ER charge pipe waiting in the toolbox.

Yep, almost inevitable this failing, especially if the boost is wound up.
Mine failed on a hard 1-2 change, which seems to be the way of things. How were you driving when yours failed?

ER CP is nice With Turbosmart DVs, even better!

Did BMW ever upgrade/improve the charge pipe or is what you buy today the exact same crappy unit as before?

Mine has 18K miles and original one but I don't drive that hard.

Don't do it. Tons of documented fitment issues on the forums.

Charge pipe failed

Mine completely exploded in the middle of Turn 5 at Laguna. Stock tune No squirrels left going up to 6. No turbos = no power. Completely blew the entire connecting flange off and 3" cracks down both sides. Total junk from BMW. They should do better. Wonder if this is a warranty item.

Fortunately had gotten ER charge pipe from HP Autosport. Big improvement. Thanks Harold

How many miles on the car at that time? Conventional wisdom suggests that it's not an "if" but "when" ... which again makes me wonder why I haven't bothered to install mine yet.

My charge pipe blew up twice! Once at 45000 km and second time at 115000 km, next time it blows up will go aftermarket.

What kind of warranty? My dealership said that no warranty company (including mine, ASG) would cover it. $700 out of my wallet........

For that kind of money, you should consider an aftermarket replacement that is more robust.

It's a BMW Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty.
