Another "new" owner of a pre-owned 135is
Hello all. Please accept my apology in advance for a long-winded post.
Just picked up a 2013 135is a few days ago, and haven't had the pleasure to drive it here in CT as it is set up purely as a Summer Car. This car will replace my 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona which I just logged 318,000 trouble free and happy miles. Prior to that I had a 2001 330xi. All in all this will be the 32nd car that I've owned since High School, and yes...I've a few grey hairs to prove it! This 135is unit has an absurd number of optional/standard features. It'll take a while to learn and understand all of the gadgetry, and which were options and whch are standard to the car. The car has both the Technology Package [all through the iDrive wheel] and the Perfomance Pkg, with the 7sp DCT. It's Space Grey with Coral Red "Boston" Leather (whatever that means) interior. It has Active Steering, which I suppose is an electric version of power steering to help prevent sapping power from the engine (that's the purpose I presume of the electric water pump as well). it has Automatic High Beams. Heated Front Seats, heated side mirrors and heated windsheild washers; also has headlamp washers. This combination on my 330xi was called a Cold Weather Package. However, the 330xi also had a block heater, this car doesn't have one of those. Maybe one can be plumbed-in??? Also embedded into the wizards world are Park Distance Control, BMW Assist [I think this is Bluetooth technology] and a Harmon Kardon Surround system .. the sound is fantastic! It also has an anti-theft alarm system and Run-flat tires. Well that describes this vehichle, and as I mentioned, it'll take a while to learn how to use all the gadgetry. See you in the future! Congrats on your new car. Sounds like you have pretty much every option that was available. As far as I can tell active steering is incredibly rare.

Congrats and welcome to 1ADDICTS. The 135is is a special car imo. You will enjoy that very much. Check your VIN here to see what your "build number" is, if you haven't already. Post some pics when you have some time.

Welcome, also have a 135is which is a vert, it's my 3rd 135. You probably won't listen to the radio much because you will be listening to the sweet burbles of the performance exhaust. You should have a feature called BMW Assist which they are offering either a $200 Visa gift card, $300 credit for accessories, or you can pay to upgrade to the new service. I have never used it and applied for the $200. It is based on your end of warranty date. You can go online to BMW Assist and put your vin# in to see if you are eligible.

Another feature of 135is: big freakin' motor. It is buried down 7 levels in a subsub menu of iDrive. However, there is an alternative way to access this feature if you still retain bipedal transport capability.

https://www.bmwdecoder.com/decode/vy60735 Interestingly it appears that this unit was stuffed with added functions and codes compared to the units before and after. Can't wait for some time to play! This car shoud be a GEÖTLER BLITZ!! |

The list was primarily my doing, bored and waiting for the darn thing to show up - had some help from BPplickner and sickfinga. There were two lines on a build configuration that denoted a 135is vs. a 135i: A 135is came with style 313 rims and also the P7MF option: P7MF Sports Edition S2NF BMW LA wheel, M Double Spoke 313 I double checked your vin using bmwvin.com, and it also shows you with 261 style rims and no P7MF so if I was betting, I'd say you have a 135i. Slap the PPK2 on and a set of 313 and you are essentially the same as a 135is, that's what Esteban did. Doesn't a 135is also have a bigger oil cooler and extra letter on the model badge lol?

Actually I slapped PPK1 on, the BMW Performance exhaust, 313s (all done in 2011, 2 years before the 2013 135is), then added the BMW Performance suspension and blacklines, and more recently added Dinan stage 2 tune, so I think my car is a little more than a 135is, even if I do say so myself.

It got you the PPK2, which has the increased HP software and the extra radiator in the driver wheel well for improved cooling. I believe a fan upgrade as well, it's been a while since I reviewed the PPK2 specs. It also came with the BMW performance exhaust along with all the pops and burbles it makes. Oh, and the extra letter on the trunk and the poorly glued 135is badge on the dash too. Crap shoot if it came with or without the PPK badge under the hood, some did, many did not. A few came with improperly installed radiator hoses from the PPK2 upgrade as a special option, which left at least one stranded (IEDEI). Last edited by Bama335; 01-27-2017 at 06:41 PM.. |

Mine just has it on the passenger side dash and rear deck. Nothing under the hood.

You can buy those PPK stickers that go under the hood on-line if you are interested in having them. I'm sure somebody here knows where to find them and maybe they'll chime in.

I would be interested in knowing. I don't want them messing with the programming if I can help it.

We can only hope you didn't have to pay extra for it compared to a 135i and that someone didn't merely stick an s on the back. Or worse, a giant M. |
