My neighbor is selling a 2008 135i 6 speed with about 100k miles for a very good price.
My question, is it smart to but a high mileage
135i? What are your experiences??
What parts would need to be replace?
Any feed back would help!

All depends on what kind of maintenance history the car has but the common items would include HPFP, water pump, VANOS solenoids, Injectors, spark plugs, carbon cleaning (walnut blasting)...

Dealers seem to try to get $10-11k for 2008 135i with 90-110k miles. So a "good" private party price IMO would be something like $7500-8000 if the service history appears solid and the car hasn't been wrecked.

Also, how good are you wrenching? If you have a well used E92 M3 you probably are decently used to maintenance/repair stuff---it will just be different stuff than rod bearings and plastic gears/circuit boards in S65 throttle bodies.

Do you get the entire service/ maintenance records so we can look at it what have done or not done? At least you can expect what you will have to spend in the future ownership.

There are a lot of specialty BMW repair shops that may help with the what goes wrong after 100k stuff.

Usually the rule is, if you have to ask, it's probably not a good decision. Buying a high mileage, out of warranty BMW is always a gamble, but if you've got sound brand knowledge, are mechanically inclined and know where to find parts for a good price, one can make it work. But make no mistake, it's going to cost you.
