128i brake rotors

So,about time to do brakes and thinking about an increase in rotor size without changing anything else. BBK's not in the budget and probably overkill for me. Just want a little better heat sink for those occaisional track days. Apparently X1 330 mm front rotors are a direct bolt on using stock calipers. Wondering if the front 300 mm stock front rotors can be used on the rear? The BMW Perf. Brake Kit uses 300mm rear rotors so it would seem possible. If possible, this should result in a little better heat tolerance for very little increased cost. So, can I use front rotors on the rear?

No. The rear rotors also incorporate a brake drum for the parking brakes.

Can you link to this? Because I disagree. To use e90 330i's or z4 3.5's 330mm rotors you at least need the Caliper carrier bracket, this would make the caliper identical to a e87 130i. However, sourcing a rebuilt 330i or z4 caliper will probbaly be cheaper.

{edit: it may be possible to fit x1's 312mm x24 disk using stock 128i carriers)

Personally in 2015 i recommend a Cheap take off F30 335i grey unpained 4 pot caliper and the stock 340mm rotor ( the Perf F30 kits require a Extra tall version of the same caliper to fit the crazy 370mm disk). Its a brake pads dont need a caliper removal, just tab's like a BBK. Talk to @Fidiman http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=537354&page=4

Consider the hand brake. Next the Caliper carrier bracket is integrated in the caliper. You essentially have to change the Caliper again to run 135i rear rotors, I recommend the cheap 335i rear Calipers they should mate with 135i rear rotors - the brake pad may have slightly odd wear on the smaller than 335i rotor... Also, You will loose the hand brake functionality. (To be honest its 2015 we really need custom handbrake shoes yesterday for this conversion...)

[Edit - 123d uses 128i rear caliper and carrier plus a custom sized rotor to fit over the wide hub and 135i large hand brake ]
ALSO, look at the euro 123d coupe, its a little Frankenstein - 135i rotor on some kind of other caliper...Its half shafts are the same as 135i but the Pumkin is small 188mm type as per 128i/125i

Alternatively e92 328i rear calipers, have the larger piston and work with oem 128i rear rotors. These are the Perf rear brake calipers you speak of.

As far as I knwo the size of rear rotor does not change, please verify, I spent my time looking at 335i and 135i brakes.

Another option is here. Remanufactured calipers with carriers will allow you to put e90 335 rotors on your 1. I did this on my e90 330. Cost was small since I needed new rotors anyway. Zero issues at the track after that swap.
