Acoording to Scott26, a member of Carspyshots AND insider at BMW, this is the real deal. It's going to look like this and will be presented as a concept at IAA.
Nailed it again . M3 Coupe concept for IAA, new innovations - Mdrive , Carbon fibre roof , light weight construction , alluminium front end , individual adapted chassis - differeing from donor car , alluminium bonnet , thermo plastic bootlid , New M-power V8 . 7 speed SMG. The evolution of the king . More power , The next M3 will progress further including it's class and price. The 1er based 2er will fit below the next car. No M1 but a 135i and a Golf Gti chaser will be the performance models of the 1er. The next M3 gives reason why 335i is certainly required.

yea that is going to be a real pain the ass... but noone should give in to the dealer markups that are going to come with this car. I remeber when the e46m3 came out the car had between a 5000-10000$ markup in its first month released and a month later the dealers were selling them at MSRP again, so i feel bad for all the people that were cought up in the hype and overpaid for the car. But aside from the dealer markup issue, this car may have a reasonable MSRP, considering the standard e90 isnt really any more expensive then an e46 when u account for the options, lets hope the same translates to the e90m3 (not that the e46m3 was cheap)... keep saving those pennies. |

Those HEADLIGHTS! It looks like the artist tweaked them up from the production E90.... Not that there is too much of a difference but some slightly softened lines seem to be just what the doctor ordered to make a beautiful car even better.

My only problem with the concept art is that it is a m6 with 3 series features stuck on it.
I know the real m3 will look alot better then this. This car is the 6 series body. The headlights will probably be exactly like the current e90 lights but you can expect wider fender flares and m-sills. The typical Smiley M front bumper will probably be added like the concept car has though. |

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but I think that the large air intake beneath the bumper is awful looking.

There is no question about it. If the M3 really looks like that and comes out in 2yrs, I will be trading in my 330i

actually, even though the E90 comes with more standard items (xenon, logic 7, sunroof), its base price is actually $95 cheaper than base price of E46 330 BD |

wow thats really nice - how do you spruce it up and what program do you use? anyway i just bought a 2005 model m3 the dealer in perth australia said to me the new shape m3 is not due till 2009 is this true or was i tricked into buying this old shape bmw m3? I bought this car because of the information fed to me by the salesman and his sales manager. They told me the car i bought was only just released so that new shape wont be out for a long time maybe 2009 but they werent sure. I feel like i have been duped.

You own one of the greatest cars in the world, regardless of when it gets replaced. I wouldn't be too upset if I were you.
Besides, the 2007 (or more likely 2008 by the time it gets to Australia) model will most likely set you back at least another 20 or 30 grand compared to the current M3, if the new M5 is anything to go by, as BMW are moving it up a notch and filling the gap with the 335i. The dealer is obviously a liar or an idiot, but you've still got an awesome car. |

Yes. Typical time frame for the release of the new models would be.
Sedan launch -> 2005 Coupe -> Sedan launch + 1 year Cabrio -> Sedan launch + 1.5 year M coupe -> Sedan launch + 2 year M Cabrio -> Sedan launch + 2.5 year So the M coupe should be here in 2007. In any case, the E46 is a great car already, and I wouldn't regret getting it. Especially I couldn't wait 2 years to get a new car. How long were you planing to keep the M3 ?
