Seems like the 1M takes high mileage which shows its well engineered and also it doesn't mind a bit of a tune!

No major issues being reported ??

I can you keep the miles off over that time? I keep telling myself to save the drives for when they matter most but I cant help it sometimes.
I have a few other vehicles so the 1M has been a fun-only car. I just decided I'm going to start having more fun!

Any other details you'd be kind enough to share with us would be greatly appreciated. Where was the car purchased from, price, spec, etc?

I picked it up from Saudi Arabia, white, loaded...

Key thing to understand is that these cars were sold at a mark-up in our region, just like any other M power or AMG car, in comparison to the US. A buddy of mine picked up his car, similar spec but in Orange, brand new at the time for around $72k.. I paid approximately $58k for mine

Thanks for sharing. The situation sounds quite similar to Japan. As the initial import was by a non-BMW importer the cars originally sold at a premium, but now have settled more or less into global market rates. Still, $58k for that mileage would seem you did quite well. Congrats!

One more question out of curiosity: do you know which country the car was originally manufactured for? Putting the VIN into the online tool will tell you if you don't know for sure.

Vin decoder says the manfacturer is BMW M Germany (plant ECE), not sure if that helps?

Sorry my request was a bit too vague.

Here is the link I'm using:
https://www.bmwvin.com

With my car as an example these are the fields that would give a clue as to the target market for the vehicle.
+ Model = M COUPE (EUR)
+ S855A Language version Italian
+ S884A On-board literature, Italian

Obviously the final two listed under "Vehicle Options" are the most revealing for my car

Thanks for humoring me. I've got a bit of a fetish around understanding how many cars have disappeared from their original markets via export or being totaled.

30,000 miles.

Owned it for 6 weeks and covered 1000 miles already (more than the previous owner did in the last 4 years).

Bought the 1M to drive and enjoy, not gather dust and Ł’s.

Interesting of the original 450 UK cars 99 have now been taken off the road. Probably low mileage cars in collections ?

Here's the official definition of SORN for those of us not in the UK.
https://www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn
"Tell DVLA you're taking your vehicle off the road, for example if you're keeping it in a garage. This is sometimes called a 'Statutory Off Road Notification' (SORN)."

Whoa. Roughly 1/4 of the available vehicles not being driven. A real shame.

I can't help but wonder how much the market price of the 1M is being propped up by artificial supply and demand constraints. The fact the 1M was declared, and arguably accepted, as a future classic so quickly after release could really mess with future prices once people start dusting off 3,000 "barn finds"...

I’m gonna claim third place (I think) with 93,500 miles. Probably 95K by the time we return from our current road trip. I’ve had coils, turbos, water pump, VANOS replaced.
